SirBarrington Windsor CunliffeCBE, bekannt alsBarry Cunliffe (*10. Dezember1939), ist ein britischerArchäologe.

Nachdem Cunliffe an derUniversität Cambridge Archäologie und Anthropologie studiert hatte, wurde er 1963 Dozent an derUniversität Bristol. 1966 wurde er, ungewöhnlich jung, Professor für Archäologie an derUniversität Southampton. Von 1972 bis 2007 war er Professor für europäische Archäologie an derUniversität Oxford.

Sehr bekannt sind seine Ausgrabungen des römischen Palastes vonFishbourne,Sussex. Außerdem ist er eine anerkannte Autorität auf dem Gebiet derKeltenforschung.

Von 1976 bis 1979 war er Präsident desCouncil for British Archaeology. 1979 wurde er zum Fellow derBritish Academy gewählt.^[1] Er ist seit 1984 Mitglied des „Ancient Monuments Advisory Committee“ (English Heritage) und seit 1991 Mitglied des „Advisory Committee of the Discovery Programme (Ireland)“. 1989 wurde er als ordentliches Mitglied in dieAcademia Europaea aufgenommen.^[2] 1995 wurde er Ehrenmitglied derRoyal Irish Academy. Im Juni 2006 wurde er zumKnight Bachelor geschlagen.
