Aidan Mark Dodson (*11. September1962 inLondon) ist einbritischerÄgyptologe.

Nach dem Abschluss derGrammar School inLangley,Berkshire begann Dodson 1981 zunächst ein Studium an derUniversity of Durham und wechselte 1982 an dieUniversity of Liverpool, wo er 1985 mit einemBachelor(Bachelor Honours) im FachArchäologie des östlichen Mittelmeerraums(Archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean) abschloss. Es folgte ein Studium derÄgyptologie undMuseum Practice an derUniversity of Cambridge, das er 1986 mit einemMaster-Abschluss beendete. 1995 erfolgte diePromotion. 1996 ging Dodson alsVisiting Fellow an dieUniversity of Bristol. Am dortigenDepartment of Archaeology & Anthropology wurde er 2005Research Fellow. Seit 2009 ist erSenior Research Fellow.

Dodsons Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen vor allem die Bestattungspraxis und diedynastische Geschichte desAlten Ägypten, die Geschichte der Ägyptologie und daneben die königlichen GräberEuropas. Er ist Mitglied mehrerer ägyptologischer Organisationen und seit 2011 Vorsitzender derEgypt Exploration Society. Dodson ist außerdem Mitherausgeber despopulärwissenschaftlichen MagazinsKMT.
