The Batman Family has returned to present-day Gotham City after traveling back to the warring states period and saving history from being altered in the previous film,Batman Ninja. The next day, they witness a startling event – the Japanese island has disappeared, and a giant island called “Hinomoto” appears in the sky over Gotham City. Soon, countless Yakuza descend from the sky and attack the people of Gotham City. And, the Justice League has disappeared.

Detecting a strange energy reaction in the sky, Batman heads for Hinomoto to find its underlying cause. There, the Dark Knight finds a world where the Yakuza war with each other, and brutality reigns without honor or humanity. At the top of the world is the Yakuza League, a group of superpowered individuals, who look suspiciously like the Justice League. The Yakuza League is invading Gotham and, to save the city, Batman and his allies are in for the fight of their lives!

The 2018Batman Ninja animated feature hits the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format for the first time on the same day its sequel,Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, also arrives on physical media. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment announcedBatman Ninja will arrive April 15, 2025 on the high-definition format. DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran announced during a Feb. 24, 2025 press event that a trio of “younger-skewing” shows have been greenlit by the studio and are in active phases of development. The three unveiled series wereDC Super Powers,Starfire, andMy Adventures with Green Lantern. The cartoons are part of DC Studio’s plans to release at least two live-action films and one animated film per year, and two live-action and two animated TV series per year.

Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, is executive producing the three new animated shows, which will be produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. Details on the three series, plus title treatments, can be found below.

Learn the origins of the Tamaran-born Teen Titan inStarfire, which sees the alien princess use an ancient spaceship on her home planet to explore the stars. On her adventure across the galaxy, Starfire meets space biker Crush, plant-loving Fern, and the magical Princess Amethyst of Gemworld. Together, they will “uncover the deepest reaches of the DC universe, save Space Dolphins, surf technicolor nebulas, and boldly soar into the unknown.”

Josie Campbell (My Adventures with Superman,She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) is the executive producer, and the co-executive producer is Brianne Drouhard (Teen Titans,Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld).

Lastly,DC Super Powers takes place at the Alliance School for Heroes and focuses on new students Lightning, Flash, Plastic Man, Aquagirl, Green Lantern and Terra who “level up their powers under the supervision of Principal Martian Manhunter, in the hopes of one day graduating and becoming the next generation of Earth’s defenders.” Matt Beans is executive producing with Michael Chang as a supervising producer.

In addition to these projects, DC Studios has already greenlit a second season ofCreature Commandos, an animated movie featuring Dick Grayson and Jason Todd calledDynamic Duo, and an animated series spun out from the 2023Blue Beetle movie following the Xolo Maridueña-voiced Jaime Reyes. Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, the sequel to the 2018 anime feature filmBatman Ninja from Warner Bros. Japan, will be available exclusively on digital on March 18 and on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on April 15.

The all-new feature film, featuring characters from DC and reimagined by Japan’s finest artists, finds Batman and his friends battling familiar faces transformed into villains in an alternate universe in a desperate attempt to save Gotham.
