Authority(disambiguation)
The Authority is a team of superheroes in theWildstorm Universe. Beginning as members ofStormWatch, they declared themselves beyond the world's government. This allows them to better the planet without regard to politics. They operate out of a sentientCarrier, positioned betweenparallel universes in theBleed. Their original line-up includedApollo,The Doctor,The Engineer,Jack Hawksmoor,Jenny Sparks,Midnighter andSwift. Anew version of the team was introduced in theInfinite Frontier, led bySuperman.
The Authority was created byWarren Ellis andBryan Hitch, first appearing in theWildStorm publicationThe Authority #1 (1999).
