TheGods of Olympus are a race of deities worshipped as the principal gods of theGreek pantheon and so named because of their residency atopMount Olympus. They are no longer widely worshipped as in ancient times, but they are still worshipped by theAmazons andAtlanteans.
History
The Olympians came into being from the effects of theGodwave energy spilled forth from the creation of theFourth World,[3] and came to power in the ancient world after overthrowing theTitans.[4] This battle had weakened them andHecate realized that if viewed as threat they would be a target of other gods of the universe. As a result she cast a spell that caused anyone that knew of them to believe they were much younger than themselves and therefore not worth bothering with.[5]
However,Uxas came toEarth and told stories of their exploits to the inhabitants ofRome. This caused worship of the Olympians to increase so dramatically that to cope they split themselves into the Greek andRoman gods who eventually became separate beings. Too late, the Olympians realized that this had been part of a long time plan of Uxas to weaken them by dividing their overall power.[6]
Some of the Olympians played a role in the creation of theAmazons, who have been guided and protected by the goddesses ever since.
