Odysseus, orUlysses,^[1] was a Greek warrior king who fought in theTrojan War.^[2] Known for his cunning, he spent years wandering lost at sea until he returned home.

History

Odysseus was considered a brilliant tactitian and he was favorite of the goddessAthena.^[3]

TheWooden Horse which hid Greek soldiers during theSiege of Troy was designed by him, and for his perfidy theGods kept him ten years from his belovedIsle of Ithaca,^[4] wandering through ancient seas.^[3] Among the many dangers he and his men faced while lost at sea were the sorceressCirce, who transformed men into animals,^[5] and the giant, man-eatingCyclopsPolyphemus.^[1]

He also fought alongside his friendAchilles in the attack on the citadel ofAmazonia, home of theAmazons before they moved toParadise Island, in reprisal for the Amazons' siding with the Trojans.^[6]
