History
Not much is known about John Bull before his run-ins with Uncle Sam or how similar he is to the Spirit of America.
During theAmerican Revolution, Uncle Sam and John Bull came to blows as their countries fought. Uncle Sam called it "an even desperate struggle," implying Bull's powers are on par with his own. After two years of fighting, they were both glad to sign a treaty of peace in 1814, vowing to never fight again.[1] John Bull would later team up with Uncle Sam inWorld War II.
When a Japanese-American Spy named Yoritomo Rawlins disguised himself as an English man named James, Uncle Sam confronted the suspect and invokes John Bull's name while interrogating him. However, the spy does not recognize Bull's name, tipping Uncle Sam off about the disguised spy.[2]
The two would venture toAsia to fight Axis forces about a year later. At the same time,King Killer returned for revenge against Uncle Sam, storming his home inEverytown, USA and kidnapping Sam's foster son,Buddy. King Killer would re-establish his Kingdom of Crime before Buddy managed to escape to find Bull and Sam across thePacific Ocean.
John Bull accompanied Uncle Sam and Buddy back to King Killer's Kingdom of Crime, which was also hostingAdolf Hitler andBenito Mussolini at the time. Bull and Sam defeat King Killer's henchmen and take down the villains, with Bull carrying off the Axis leaders afterwards.[3]
