David Shrigley has created an installation made from ten tonnes of discarded rope, now on view as “Exhibition of Old Rope” at Stephen Friedman Gallery in London from 14 November. The work fills the gallery’s rooms with large piles of rope collected across the UK and is priced at £1 million plus VAT, a figure he describes as a deliberate provocation.
