The requirement in 7.6.1.8 [expr.typeid] paragraph 5 that
The top-level cv-qualifiers of the glvalue expression or thetype-id that is the operand oftypeid are alwaysignored
could be misinterpreted as referring to cv-qualifiers in afunction type, even though it is clear that a function type is nevercv-qualified. A note emphasizing the fact that that is not thecase would be helpful.
Proposed resolution (February, 2012):
Change 7.6.1.8 [expr.typeid] paragraph 5 as follows:
The top-level cv-qualifiers of the glvalue expression or thetype-id that is the operand oftypeid are alwaysignored.If the type of the expression ortype-id isa cv-qualified type, the result of thetypeid expressionrefers to astd::type_info object representing thecv-unqualified type. [Example:...
