Formula One, abbreviated toF1 (and also known unofficially asGrand Prix racing), is the highest class of single-seatopen-wheelauto racing. It is a worldwidesport, with two annual championships running in parallel: World Drivers' Championship and World Constructors' Championship. It is the 8th most expensive sport in the world, as annual team budgets average in the hundreds of millions ofUS dollars. The championship is run over a series of races (21 in2019), known asGrands Prix (plural ofGrand Prix), on custom-constructed road courses or closed-off street circuits.
