No quality is independent of its opposite, nor so pure that it does not contain its opposite in a diminished form: these concepts are depicted by the vague division between black and white, the flowing boundary between the two, and the smallercircles within the large regions. العربية: هذهعلامة يين ويانغ أو تايجيتو (太極圖), بلوينها الأسود والأبيض ترمز لـ اليين ويانغ وهو الرمز يعكس الإزدواجية التي لا مفر منها المتشابكة بكل الأشياء في الطبيعة، وهو موضوع مشترك فيالطاوية. علامةيين ويانغ ترمز لكيفية عمل الأشياء في العلم الصيني القديم. الدائرة الخارجية تمثل "كل شئ"، بينما الشكلان الأبيض والأسود داخل الدائرة يمثلان التداخل بين طاقتان متضادتان، طاقة اليين "الأسود" وطاقة اليانغ "الأبيض" الطاقتان المؤديتان لحدوث أي شيء في الحياة. وهما ليسا أبيض وأسود تماماً مثلهم مثل أي شيء آخر في الحياة لا يكون أبيض تماماً أو أسود تماماً، ويحتاج كل منهما للآخر فهو مكمل له ولا يتواجد أي منهم دون الآخر. بينما اليين هو الظلام، السكون، الأسفل، البارد، الانكماش والضعف فإن اليانج هو النور، النشاط، الأعلى، الساخن، التمدد والقوة. Jest bardzo znanym znakiem i jest jednym z niewielu znaków, po którym rozpoznajemy, ze rzecz oznakowana nim, jest z Japonii.
