Emily Dickinson (December 10,1830 -May 15,1886) was a 19th-century American poet. Although unknown during her own lifetime, Dickinson has since come to be regarded as one of the most brilliant and original poets in American literature, often being placed alongside other such luminaries asWalt Whitman andRobert Frost.
