Salmons & Son vehicles. 1955 wurde das Unternehmen von
Aston Martin übernommen.
English: Salmons & Sons was a British coachbuilder established in 1820 at
Tickford, a mile east of Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, which added automobile coachwork to its range in 1898. Their products were sold under the brand name Tickford which was more attractive to customers than Salmons.
Salmons' luxurious
Tickford All Weather body with the folding top which wound up or down by inserting a small lever on the side at the back (as if winding a clock) became so well known that after changing hands in 1943 Salmons & Son was re-named Tickford (see
Salmons & Son vehicles). Tickford was bought by
David Brown in 1954 and gradually switched from including Alvises to production of only Aston Martins and Lagondas. The factory in Tickford Street, Newport Pagnell closed permanently in 2007 and the land has since been "re-developed".
