English: Idalion was an ancient city in Cyprus, palces on two hills (eastern and western acropoleis) near modernDali. Idalion was founded as an Eteocypriot (pre-Indo-European people of Cyprus) city, and known from Neo-Assyrian sources of Esarhaddon and Ashurbanipal (7th century BCE) as first in list of 10 Cypriot city-kingdoms who gave the kings offers. Eventually dominated by the Phoenician city-kingdom of Citium, it became the adminstative centre of the kingdom, as well as a religios centre. The excaved site of the ancient city contains two sections of the lower city, and on the western acropolis a workshop near the palace, a part of the palace (estimateed 1/4 of the whole palace), and a sanctuary of Anat-Athena on top of the hill.

עברית : אידליון (בפיניקית ואשורית "אדיל") היתה עיר עתיקה בקפריסין, ממקומת על שתי גבעות (אקרופוליס מערבי ומזרחי) ליד היישוב המודרנידאלי. אידליון הוקמה כיישוב טרום־הודו־אירופאי, וידועה מהכתובות הנאו־אשוריות המלכותיות של אסרחדון ואשורבניפל (המאה ה־7 לפנה"ס) כראשונה ברשימת עשר ערי הממלכה הקפריסאיות שהעלו למלכים מנחות. בהמשך, תחת שלטון עיר הממלכה הפיניקית כתיון (בפיניקית "כתי"), הפכה אדיל/אידליון למרכז המנהלי של הממלכה, כמו גם למרכז דתי. האתר החפור של העיר העתיקה כולל שני חלקים מהעיר התחתית, ובאקרופוליס המערבי סדנה ליד הארמון, חלק מהארמון (כרבע מהארמון כולו לפי ההערכות) ומקדש לענת־אתנה על פסגת הגבעה.
