Macedonian Empire

English	Macedonian Empire TheMacedonian Empire was the name of an ancient kingdom in the northern-most part of ancient Greece, bordering the kingdom of Epirus on the west and the region of Thrace to the east. For a brief period it became the most powerful state in the ancient Near East after Alexander the Great conquered most of the known world, inaugurating the Hellenistic period of Greek history.
Ελληνικά	ΤοΜακεδονικό βασίλειο^[1] πρόβαλε κυριαρχικά στον ελλαδικό χώρο μετά την άνοδο του Φιλίππου Β' στο θρόνο, ο οποίος ένωσε υπό την ηγεμονία του τις υπόλοιπες ελληνικές πόλεις-κράτη και δημιούργησε μία πανελλήνια συμμαχία υπό την ηγεμονία του. Ο γιος του Φιλίππου Αλέξανδρος, συνέχισε το έργο του πατέρα του και ολοκλήρωσε την ενοποίηση των ανεξάρτητων ελληνικών πόλεων-κρατών της εποχής και κατέκτησε την Περσική αυτοκρατορία λίγα χρόνια αργότερα. Το βασίλειο της Μακεδονίας σύντομα έχασε τον έλεγχο των αχανών ασιατικών εκτάσεων, αλλά διατήρησε την κυριαρχία του στην Ελλάδα έως ότου καταλύθηκε από τους Ρωμαίους μετά τους Μακεδονικούς Πολέμους (215 - 148 π.Χ.).
