Since 2007, when he created a mock trailer for the movieGrindhouse,Eli Roth has been waiting for the right opportunity to create a feature-length movie based on the fake trailer. The original trailer is filled to the brim with terrible puns, extremely cheesy kill scenes and body reveals in true Eli Roth fashion. Roth made his directorial debut with the 2002 movieCabin Fever, which he wrote with his college roommate in the late 90s. Later, when he createdHostel in 2005, his name became inextricably linked with the gritty slasher subgenre of horror films. He has since been added to a list of other independent directors known as “The Splat Pack,” featuring filmmakers who create highly violent movies on a low budget. Along with his writing and directing abilities, Roth is also a talented actor, making appearances in most, if not all of his movies. His most notable performance is inQuentin Tarantino’sInglourious Basterds, as Donny “The Bear Jew” Donowitz, for which he received a Critics Choice Movie Award.
Now, almost twenty years after the faux trailer was created forGrindhouse,Thanksgiving is finally happening. With the Thanksgiving holiday coming closer and closer, this article will tell you everything you need to know aboutThanksgiving before it comes out. Bless the meat, let’s eat!

Eli Roth's 'Thanksgiving' Plot

The movie is set in Plymouth, Massachusetts, a town that takesThanksgiving very, very seriously. “The table is set, the festivities have begun, but an uninvited guest has arrived… and this year, there will be no leftovers.” When a serial killer sets his sights on the residents of the town, he is determined to kill as many of them as possible. The big question to be answered is “Why?” What is it aboutThanksgiving that sets the killer off? Knowing Roth, it could be something as simple as a guy who justreally wants to fight for the rights of animals raised for slaughter.
The official synopsis for the film, from Sony Pictures, reads:
After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the holiday. Picking off residents one by one, what begins as random revenge killings are soon revealed to be part of a larger, sinister holiday plan. Will the town uncover the killer and survive the holidays…or become guests at his twisted holiday dinner table?
