At the end ofGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) orders Kraglin (Sean Gunn) to use the Knowhere station to attack theHigh Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) ship. Unfortunately, the leader of the Guardians was not aware there were hundreds of children aboard. Nevertheless, the damage is done, with the ship slowly blowing up to pieces and threatening to kill everyone who doesn’t escape in time.

During the final showdown inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the Guardians join forces to free all the sentient creatures the High Evolutionary keeps in the basement of his ship. Mantis (Pom Klementieff) is one of the Guardians sent to the basement to open the cages and release the prisoners, while Nebula (Karen Gillian) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) are tasked with steering the ship closer to Knowhere so that the children have a clear path to safety.

In a recent Twitter post, Gunn revealed that near the end of the film, Davidson played Phlektik, with Davidson even coming down to Atlanta to film his part. Meanwhile, Gunn stated that he played Lambshank, the weird blob covered in mechanical limbs, that Mantis frees during this final sequence. Gunn even shared photos of Davidson's time on set, posing with the children in the film, as well as with Pratt and Gunn.

Pete Davidson's Cameo Shows Gunn Makes His Movie Casts a Family

Over the course of his career, Gunn has made his casts seem like a family, bringing back his favorites over and over. For example,Nathan Fillion has appeared in almost all of Gunn's projects, while Gunn has been responsible for bringing several actors to both the DC and Marvel universes, likeSylvester Stallone,Jennifer Holland, and now, Davidson. Gunn has also said he would like tobring some of the Guardians to DC, so it seems like even though Gunn is switching to another universe, he's still going to keep his family of favorite actors together.
