If there's avillain-turned-hero that people love to the same degree they love Loki (Tom Hiddleston), it's Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). He first appeared inCaptain America: The First Avenger as Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) best friend who never wavered from his side. This already made him incredibly lovable, buthe became even more layered and compelling after coming back from the "dead" as the evil and terrifying Winter Soldier inCaptain America: The Winter Soldier.
His journey from then on has made him such a compelling and complex character that people were immediately attached to and wanted to see more of.His growth from the Winter Soldier tothe Bucky Barnes he is inThunderbolts* is super movingand exciting and has brought some of the best scenes in theMarvel Cinematic Universe, honestly.

After Bucky is kidnapped and brought to a secure HYDRA base,Captain America, of course, busts in and rescues his friend. But the hardest part about every rescue isn't about getting in, but getting out.As they're teaming up to break out of the facility, they come across some tough obstacles, but none tougher than that of the massive explosions that Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) begins to set off around the base.
While breaking out, they must cross a path, and while Bucky gets over, the path is destroyed in the process.Like the noble guy he is, Steve tells his friend to leave, but Bucky immediately refuses to leave him. 9 Bucky and Sam Wilson vs. John Walker
'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' (2021)

After John Walker (Wyatt Russell) goes wild and does some heinous things with the Captain America shield, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky confront him and fight him for it. The two-on-one battle is thrilling in so many ways and super symbolic. The fight is very well-choreographed and one of the bestPhase Four fights.
This isn't just a battle for a shield or to stop some sort of crazed madman, it's a battle for the legacy of Bucky's best friend. This guy just murdered someone with his shield in front of the entire world. This was definitely more than just a random fight for Bucky. The way that the two heroes team up is super exciting and makes for some great action.

8 Bucky and Steve vs. Iron Man
'Captain America: Civil War' (2016)

Bucky Barnes is a huge part ofCaptain America: Civil War, given that the entire plot surrounds him. He also acts as the catalyst to one of the biggest twists and best final battles in the MCU, whenit is revealed at the end of the film that when he was under HYDRA's control, he murdered Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) parents. This was a gigantic moment for fans and led to a nasty fight.
Together, Bucky and Stevethrillingly take on the billionaire, and the fight is phenomenal. While it may seem like Iron Man may not be able to hold his own against two super soldiers, he actually does, and the fact that he could stand toe-to-toe with them is madly impressive. It's also quite emotional for the ex-assassin, as he is facing the sins of his past in a physical form now.

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014)

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is commonly known as one of the best MCU films to date. The sequences that Winter Soldier is in are some of the best in the entire film, and that's no overstatement. The absolute aura that Winter Soldier carries in his MCU debut is unmatched, and his first appearance in the movie is bone-chilling, as he attempts to kill Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) at the end of a car chase he'd been in.
It took the undercover HYDRA agents a lot of work to face Nick Fury, and they didn't even succeed.Winter Soldier, however, ends the sequence as fast as he appears. The way he effortlessly took down Fury was eye-widening and left people shocked. The stage had been set, and Bucky was set upto be a thrilling villain that was not to be sneezed at.

6 "You are free."
'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' (2021)

One of the biggest setbacks for Bucky Barnes, ever since he started to come around inCaptain America: Civil War, was the way he could so easily be controlled by the trigger words implanted in him through mental conditioning, which would control him. It allowed Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) to turn him while he was making so much progress getting back to his old self, and it obviously let him be controlled by HYDRA for decades.
Sebastian Stan's performance is tear-jerking, and it's a moment that people had been waiting for quite some time for.
At the end ofCaptain America: Civil War, though, he turned himself over to Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and the Wakandans to attempt to cure his mental conditioning. It's never truly touched upon in the twoThe Avengers films that follow, but inThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, fans finally got to see him be cured, and it was so moving. Sebastian Stan's performance is tear-jerking, and it's a moment that people had been waiting for quite some time for. It's heartwarming and one of the best moments in the character's career.
5 Captain America Chases the Winter Soldier Down
'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014)

When Nick Fury takes refuge in Steve Rogers' apartment inCaptain America: The Winter Soldier, after his run-in with the Winter Soldier at the end of the car chase,he is soon caught up with and caught off guard when the Winter Soldier shoots him through Rogers' wall. The captain understandably makes the chase, and it's an exhilarating scenewith thrilling beats the whole way through.
It's a shocking moment, and it even has Steve's jaw dropped.
When he finally catches up with the assassin, it leads to one of the coolest moments in both of their careers. Captain America throws his shield, and the Winter Soldier catches it with one hand like it was a tennis ball. It's a shocking moment, and it even has Steve's jaw dropped. Not only did he make a great first impression on the audience and Fury a few scenes earlier, but he made a great one on Steve, too.
4 "Let's hear it for Captain America!"
'Captain America: The First Avenger' (2011)

One of the most gratifying moments inCaptain America: The First Avengeris whenBucky helps validate Steve and encourages recognition from his squad after he saved all of them from the HYDRA base. The first part of the movie really hammers home how little respect Steve Rogers got in the army before he became the Captain America that audiences know today.
...To ignite the love and appreciation for the guy, his best friend shouts, "Let's hear it for Captain America!"
After his successful mission, people are in shock that Steve actually pulled that off, and to ignite the love and appreciation for the guy, his best friend shouts, "Let's hear it for Captain America!"It's a great quotethat emphasizes how great a friend Bucky truly is. Moments like this make Steve's undying commitment to the guy understandable.
3 The Highway Fight
'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014)

The fight on the highway that ensues when the Winter Soldier and other HYDRA thugs ambush Steve, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), and Sam Wilson is one of the greatest set-pieces and leads to one of thebest hand-to-hand fights in the MCU. It also goes down as one of the best choreographed, too.
Sure, Steve runs through a bus while getting shot at, and Sam takes on agents by himself, but Bucky gets the best moments here.
Sure, Steve runs through a bus while getting shot at, and Sam takes on agents by himself, but Bucky gets the best moments here. There's an iconic moment of him holding the Captain America shield, he shoots Black Widow, has said hand-to-hand knife fight with Steve, and it all ends off with the coolest identity reveal in the MCU: Bucky's mask falling off and Steve merely muttering, "Bucky?"
2 "I'm with you till the end of the line, pal."
'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014)

One of the mosticonic quotes fromCaptain America: The Winter Soldier went on to become a quote that would last throughout the entire MCU. In a flashback, while Bucky is comforting skinny Steve, he tells him, "I'm with you till the end of the line, pal," which would become the quote that binds them together going forward. It's the line that somewhat snaps Bucky out of his crazed attack on Cap in the final battle and makes this flashback an all-around heartwarming moment.
...He tells him, "I'm with you till the end of the line, pal," which would become the quote that binds them together going forward.
If there's a moment in the MCU that solidifies how strong the friendship between Steve and Bucky is, it's this one. This scene and this line are proof of why audiences could believe, at the end of the day, that Bucky could still be saved. Their friendship is easily the best in this everlasting cinematic universe, and even though Steve is gone, it seems like it will continue to.
1 The Final Battle
'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014)

The final battle of the secondCaptain America film is not only exciting, but quite emotional. As Steve faces off with the Winter Soldier one last time on the falling ship, he refuses to leave him there. It's hard to watch because the hero so badly doesn't want to fight his best friend. He wants to save him. Which leads to him eventually stopping the fight, dropping his helmet, and letting Bucky go wild, punching him over and over.
As Steve faces off with the Winter Soldier one last time on the falling ship, he refuses to leave him there.
Steve plans to die here, letting his friend almost beat him to death, and it's heartbreaking. When he's about to end him, Steve simply says, "Then finish it... because I'm with you... till the end of the line,"which causes his old friend to hesitate, ending the fight. It's an incredible scene and quite easily the most memorable of all Bucky's MCU scenes.
