Whedon revealed early on that he was including the characters Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the film, and we learned a couple of months ago thatAaron Taylor-Johnson wasthe frontrunner to play the incredibly fast Quicksilver in the superhero sequel.
Steve recently sat down with Taylor-Johnson in anticipation of the release ofKick-Ass 2, and the actor confirmed that he has indeed had meetings with both Whedon and the people at Marvel about possibly playing Quicksilver, and it certainly sounds like negotiations are ongoing. When Steve asked Taylor-Johnson if he has already signed on forThe Avengers 2 or if he’s still in negotiations, the actor confirmed that he has indeed been approached about joining the ensemble:
“I feel really flattered and honored that they came to me for that role. I think he’s an interesting character and we’re just gonna keep going into that. I sat down with Joss, I think he’s awesome, I sat down with the guys at Marvel and they’re also great; I think it’d be interesting.”

He noted that the prospect of signing a Marvel contract, which usually constitutes appearing in anywhere from 4-9 other movies, is “nerve-wracking,” but it looks like Taylor-Johnson is carefully weighing his options.
With regards toGodzilla, Taylor-Johnson was recently at Comic-Con to promote the film with fellow cast membersBryan Cranston andElizabeth Olsen as well as director Gareth Edwards, and he spoke enthusiastically about Edwards’ vision for the legendary monster:
“Gareth is such a wicked director, man. He’s so modest and humble and he’s got such a wicked vision for this, so I’m excited for what they’re gonna do.”
