Appearance[]

Alice is a young teenage girl with red eyes and long blonde hair which she keeps tied up in twintails. At the end of the story, she cuts her hair short.Her three measurements are as follow:

Clothing-wise;When at Ashford Academy Alice wears the standard girl’s uniform for middle school students while when not at school, Alice wears more somewhat masculine clothing fitting her tomboyish nature such as a T-shirt and jean shorts or a tank-top with a jean skirt.

While on duty with her Irregular sisters and piloting her knightmare, Alice wears a tight bodysuit with special valves in the collar for injecting theC.C. Cell Control Drug Counter into her body during battle. In one instance she’s been shown to have a proper military uniform which is a dark long-sleeve jacket with a miniskirt and boots.

After making a contract with Nemo, Alice gains a new suit for piloting her Code Geass. This outfit is a one-piece leotard resembling a swimsuit but with shoulder guards, elbow-length gloves, long boots that reach her upper thighs and a cloak.

Personality[]

Alice is a strong-willed and tough girl who always has herself together. Despite her tomboyish personality, she is an extremely caring and sweet girl who gets along well with both her classmates and her Irregular "sisters". Alice has zero tolerance for bullying and will humiliate or even beat up anyone who bullies or harasses others as Ekaterina Sforza and her two friends learned the hard way.

Despite appearing seemly normal, Alice is deeply troubled because of the tragedies of her past, namely losing her paraplegic little sister who died in a fire. Alice has always felt guilt of being powerless to protect the one she cared about. Similar toSuzaku Kururugi, Alice became a Britannian soldier and obtained her Geass in hopes of preventing the same kind of tragedy from repeating. She also feels guilty about hiding her true identity as a Irregular special agent from Nunnally who considers Alice her best friend.

Even though Alice is a good person at heart, she can be quite ruthless when she needs to be and has no qualms about killing either in self-defense or to protect others. This was shown during the battle at Lake Kawaguchi and when she killed Mao, and laterRolo vi Britannia, for kidnapping and trying to murder Nunnally.

Background[]

Little is known about Alice's early life other than the fact that she tragically lost her paraplegic little sister in a fire. Alice blamed herself for not being able to save her and the effects of the tragedy would haunt Alice later in life. At some point, Alice became anHonorary Britannian and eventually joined theBritannian Military. It was in the military that she either volunteered or more likely was conscripted into a specialIrregular unit known as theBritannian Special Honorary Foreign Legion under the command of ColonelMadd. Like the other members, her body was infused with the cells ofC.C. giving her an advancedGeass ability (super speed in her case). This combined with advanced training in various fields made Alice into an elite soldier.

Before the story, Alice was sent toAshford Academy on a mission to spy onMilly Ashford and her family under the guise of a new transfer student. shortly after transfering, Alice fights off some girls that are bullying Nunnally. A week later, Alice approachedNunnally vi Britannia onto he school rooftop. Alice is surprised that Nunnaly recongizes her, but Nunnally claims it was because of how she walks along with her smell, clarifying that she couldn't forget how Alice helped her before. Nunnally then asks why she is up there, and Alice explains that she can't get along with her classmates, so she wanted to enjoy the cool evening. Alice then offered to head down with Nunnally, but the girl claims that since she cant walk, her presence would make people uncomfortable and says that she can enjoys the festivities from the roof. Nunnally thinks back to how she used to be able to move around freely and begins crying and admitting that she really doesn't want anyone to see her cry like that. Alice then offers her taiyaki and notes that even with Nunnally's condition, she can "walk where other people can't and "see" what other people are unable to, clarifying that all because other people can do stuff she can't that doesn't mean she's missing something. This cheers Nunnally up, but before she can say anything,, Lelouch appears. Nunnally tries to introduce him to Alice, but she's gone. As Lelouch and Nunnally leave, Alice sits on the roof and eats her taiyaki.

Character History[]

Alice makes her first appearance at Ashford Academy when she humiliates Ekaterina Sforza and her two friends who were harassing Nunnally ripping off their skirts, unknown to everyone, using her Geass "The Speed" to do it. Alice then helps Nunnally up and goes with her to class. On the roof, Nunnally thanks Alice for always standing up for her. Alice then explains that her own sister is in a wheelchair, so Nunnally remind her of her. Nunnally invites Alice over some some tea, but Alice politely declines. As Nunnally leaves Alice gains a complicated look on her face.

At Arthur's welcome party, Alice questioned her presence as a middle school student who isn't part of the Student Council. Milly then tells everyone that she had arranged for them all to take a trip to Lake Kawaguchi. On the train ride to lake Kawaguchi, Nunnally asks if Alice is scared to leave the capital and explain that not all Japanese people are scary.

During the party, Alice offers Nunnally some food briefly before the hotel is hijacked by the JLF. After the hotel is hijacked, Nunnally is concerned, but Alice reassures her that things will be okay. They are then approached by a Japanese officer who tells them that the commander wants to speak with Nunnally. Despite Milly's and Alice's attempts to stop her, Nunnally goes with the officer to avoid any violence, and Alice notes that Milly seemed to know the reason the commander wanted Nunnally.

When Nunnally refuses to help Kusakabe, he has one of his men bring Alice to the roof and shoot her off, her body falling through a tree. However, Alice survives to due to her body's Irregular augmentation with C.C.'s cells. Alice notes that if she were a normal girl shewould have died, she then swims back to the mainland and meets up with the other members of theBritannian Special Honorary Foreign Legion, declaring that her geass is the one best suited for the situation, she prepares to get into her knightmare.

Once suited up, Alice, in her knighmare goes through the underground tunnel to the hotel, desperate to get there and save Nunnally before Cornelia kills everyone. As Alice approaches theRaikō, she uses her geass to easily blitz past it and destroy it before proceeding forward. Arriving on the helipad shortly after Nemo and seeing Nunnally's destroyed wheelchair, Alice believes that Nemo killed her and proceeds the two begin to fight. As they battle begins, they both realize that the other is also a geass user. Alice is eventually overwhelmed, but before her enemy can land the finishing blow, the building begins to explode. As s the building detonates, Alice laments her inability to save Nunnally.

When Nunnally wakes up in her bedroom at Ashford, Alice is there and explains they they were both saved by the Black Knights, Nunnally is tearfully overjoyed to see Alice alive and they embrace. Later one night, she hacks into Ashford Academy's server and discovers Nunnally's true identity. Despite acknowledging her duty to report this information to her superiors, Alice instead deletes it, noting that Nunnally is her only friend.

When Cornelia announces her plan to attack the ghetto,Dalque considers her foolish, but Alice admonishes her and explains that its a trap to lure out the Black Knights, and anticipates that themysterious knightmare will be there too. AfterDalque finds the knightmare, Alice intercepts and battles it. While Alice if overpowered, she lures it to a field ofGefjun Disturbers, disabling it. However, when the knightmare manages to break the Disturbers, Alice requests permission to neutralize C.C.'s cell control medicine, which she is granted for 120 seconds. As the medicine is injected, Alice screams on the inside of her knightmare before calming down and activating her geass, now too fast for Nemo to even react to. Alice quickly overwhelms Nemo, but before she can go for the finishing blow, Zero arrives and wrapped Mark Nemo up in his cape, teleporting them both away. Alice asksLucretia where they went, but she cant pinpoint them. Alice is then hit with the backlash of the medicine and the operation is officially ended. Alice asks Colonel Madd why and he responds that Alice is needed for future battles and is too valuable to lose.

2 days after the battle, Alice approaches Nunnally and invites her to a tea party, but Nunnally declines and leaves. Puzzled, Alice then complains before realizing that compared to her work in the military, being rejected is a foolish school-girl problem. She then receives a call from Irregular headquarters, who informs her theMao is present in area 11 and she is being dispatched to deal with her. While in the Saitama Ghetto looking for Mao,Sancia tells Alice that there is a civilian nearby that she is to dispose of. Upon seeing that the civilian is Nunnally, Alice is concerned. When Mao attempts to flee after C.C. injects her with more of her cells, she happens upon Alice who has taken her neutralizer. Mao tries to defend her actions before attempted to use her geass on Alice. Alice then uses her own geass to get behind Mao and destroys the rest of the Neutralizer, leaving Mao to her fate, rightly dubbing her as nothing but a murderer who tried to harm Nunnally. As Mao's death approaches, her last words are mocking Alice, reminding her that what was happening to her would be the fate of ALL the irregulars. After reporting Mao's death Alice takes Nunnally. No longer considering Ashford to be safe, Alice commits herself to become a Knight to protect her.

Some time later, at Ashford, Nunnally and Alice are doing some work for Milly. Nunnally admits that she had a dream about her past, leading Alice to mentally note that Nunnally shouldn't be able to retain memories of the incident with Mao. Alice then realizes that someone is following them and tells Nunnally to contact the military police before moving to intercept the culprit, but is surprised when no one is there. Suzaku then reveals himself and helps the two. Alice aware of Suzaku's position in the military, is surprised that he's Nunnally's friend. Suzaku then introduces himself to Alice and tries to shake her hand,, but when they touch, Alice suddenly feels something odd and claims to not be feeling well before running away. While alone, she notes that the feeling was similar to when she encountered Zero, but unlike zero, it was not negative.

As the Battle at Narita commence, Alice is with her unit. As her comrades note how one sided the battle is, Alice points out that Cornelia got the information from Kyoto. After a landslide wipes out a chunk of the Britannian force, Alice realizes that Zero must be on the battlefield and is likely heading towards Cornelia, so without waiting for the order to move out, she moves to intercept him. While moving to Cornelia, Alice mentally notes that if she defeats zero, she will obtain knighthood and be able to use that to protect Nunnally.

As Nemo is about to land the final blow on Suzaku, Alice appears. Seeing both the Mark Nemo and Zero present, she sees it as her best opportunity to become a knight. Alice clashes with Nemo and due to the injuries already sustained, Nemo is losing. The two suddenly begin to resonate, with Nunnally seeing Alice's memories. Just then , the area is bombarded by a hadron cannon and Alice exits her knightmare to avoid it. Nemo then tries to kill Alice, but Nunnally forcibly breaks their contract leading to the Mark Nemo collapsing. Alice is then shocked to see an unconscious Nunnally on the battlefield.

After Nunnally is captured by theIrregulars, Alice visits her. Struggling to believe that Nunnally were the pilot of the Mark Nemo, Alice attempt to question Nunnally, thinking it all to be a misunderstanding. However Nunnally, feeling betrayed due to that allice is part of the Britannian military, asks her to leave. Upon learning the custody of Alice has been handed over to someone else, Alice angrily questions Madd, who confirms that the Eden vital Order. She argues that Nunnally may have been manipulated by Mark Nemo and most likely isn't a geass user. To thisMadd shows her the collected data, proving that she was a geass user and telling her that the matter had already been decided. Alice questions what that means for Nunnally and Madd explains she will probably get capitol punishment. In an act of desperation, Alice reveals Nunnally's true identity as an imperial princess and questions if she can really be executed. However,Rolo then appears and explains that the order comes directly from the Emperor, and that weak have their lives taken by the strong. Infuriated by this, Alice attempts to shoot Rolo, but he suddenly appears behind her, pointing a gun at her head. Deciding to show mercy, Rolo shoots her in the side and tells her that he'll personally verify Nunnally's death.

Alice is locked in a cell where she tearfully laments to a hallucination of her sister at her failures at both her an Nunnally. Her sister then acknowledges that the reason Alice was so desperate to protect Nunnally was because because of her similarities to her sister. Her sister then asks if she wants the strength to protect Nunnally before Nemo begins appearing from the sister's back and offers Alice an Exchange. Nemo tells Alice to wish for its power, but Alice refuses, blaming Nemo for Nunnally's execution. Nemo however, states that Nunnally would have eventfully been executed regardless, as she possesses her own power and seeing the future is just fraction of it. It then shows Alice in image of Nunnally about to be burned at the stake to convince her, but Alice breaks down, terrified at failing to protect someone again. Nemo then reveals that when she was fused with Nunnally, her emotions told it to kill Alice, but Nunnally herself instead severed their contract and lost all of her power in order to save Alice. Nemo then questions if Alice will abandon Nunnally. After collecting herself, Alice states that the way Nemo tricks others with its charming words is just like the witch before agreeinto the make a deal with it.

After Anya defeats Suzaku, Alice suddenly appears. Anya tried to attack her, but Alice summon Slash harkens to counter her. She then summons code geass which generates a bright ball of energy, seemingly destroying everything present and using the oppurtunity to tak eNunnaly to a secret location. Following this, Alice is declred a traitor and is listed as a target by the other Irregulars.

As Alice hears of the formation of the Holy Nation of Eden Vital over the radio, she questions the decision, understanding that it will cause Britannia to crumble. Nunnally then wakes up and questions what the announcement meand for Euphemia and the others and alice assures her that she will be fine with Suzaku. Nunnaly then apologizes for getting Alice involved and hiding her geass. Alice in turn apologizes for keeping her involvement with the military a secret and tells Nunnally to rest, telling her thst theyll figure out how to contact the Black Knights. Alice then notices Nunnally's arm beginning to degrade and realizes that her cells have become unstable due to losing Nemo, before desperatly trying to figure out what to do. She questions Nemo, but Nemo explains that Alice replacing it as Nunnaly's knight was the deal. Alice is frusratedm but then realizes the Rolo is nearby. She then leaves to deal with the enemy while reminding Nunnally that as her knight, she will come back.

When Rolo uses his geass to freeze the Irregulars, Alice attacks him. However, he he stops time and attacks her instead. Despite the attack, she is unharmed and immediately figures out the nature of Rolo's geass. Rolo uses his geass and attack her again, but this time the attack only breaks the armor covering Code geass, revealing its true form. As the code geass charges of 2 energy spheres, Rolo attempts to use his geass again, but this time Alice uses her own geass and blitzes past Rolo, destroying the Vincent’s left arm. Alice then reveals that Rolo’s geass can only be used in a certain range and Nemo enhancing her geass allows her to enter and exit that range before Rolo can respond. Rolo then pulls out Nunnally, with Anya revealing that the Irregulars were just bait to lure out Alice and she had captured Nunnally while they were all distracted. Rolo moves to to kill Nunnally, causing Alice to panic and enter Rolo's territory and become frozen by his geass. Alice, despite being frozen, then proceed to talk about the limitations of Rolo's geass, shocking him. She then reveals that her geass can increase her speed infinitely and attacks Rolo through his time stop, destroying the Vincent.

After Rolo's defeat and death, Anya picks up Rolo’s locket and tosses Alice, explaining that it contains information aboutKamine Island and that going there will allow Alice to learn more about Eden Vital, geass, and how to save Nunnally. She then disappears.

Later, Nunnally wakes up and wonders if something happened, but Alice denies it. Nunnally asks about the locket, and Alice claims that it came from a refugee that gave them food. Nunnally then opens the locket and asks Alice what is in it, and Alice sees a picture of Marianne, Lelouch and Nunnally, telling Nunnally that it's a picture of a family and it must have been very important to the locket’s owner.

After Lucretia downloads the information form the Rolo’s locket and calculates an entry route to Kamine Island, Sancia asks if Alice is really going, questioning if its a trap. Nunnally states that she should go alone, but Alice refutes the idea and assured her that they'll both come back safely. They then leave on the Code Geass. As they leave, Dalque expresses her concern, but Lucretia points out how cheerful Alice was. Sancia notes how Alice has moved on from her sisters and Dalque expresses sadness how she doesn't need them anymore.

As Euphemia's forces and the Black Knights begin their attack, Alice and Nunnally reach the thought elevator. Upon opening the door, they find themselves in a vast field and are greeted byCharles. He explains that they are at the entrance to Eden Vital and that the world of sadness will be replaced by a kind a gentle world. Anya then appears and states that it is the utopia Nunnally wishes for. It is then revealed that she is actuallyMarrianne, Nunnally's mother, who explains how her geass allowed her to survive on in Any'a body.

Alice and Nemo suddenly find themselves outside of the Code Geass and separated form Nunnally. They see her speaking to Charles and MArriane and try to go to her, but are stopped by a barrier. Nemo tells her that all they can do is watch, and this infuriates Alice who points out that Nemo told her to protect Nunnally as her knight. Nemo then explains that their duty as a knight ends there and all they can do is watch Nunnally’s choice.

As Charles and Marianne talk about Nunnally's geass, Alice questions Nemo about it. Nemo explains that both Lelouch and Nunnally possess the power to return all of creation into nothingness, which is why they were feared by the order. Alice realizes that the reason C.C. wanted to protect Lelouch and Nunnally was because they were the only ones that could kill her and then starts to speak to C.C. through Nemo, asking her to take her to Nunnally. C.C., through Nemo, states that she would be betraying Marianne and Charles and questions if Alice can go through with it. Alice on the other hand reaffirms herself as Nunnally’s knight and swears to protect her until the end.

As Nunnally is about to open Heaven's door, Alice appears behind her. She explains how she kept beating herself up over the death of her sister, but meeting Nunnally remind her of what it was like to love someone and gave her hope, and she doesn't want that feeling to disappear. Nemo then appears and states that geass manifests based on one’s true nature, and Nunnally’s geass to see the future because of how she wished for tomorrow. Nunnaly then contemplates her feelings and confronts and accepts them, regaining her sight and mobility. Nunnally welcomes Nemo back before hugging Alice. As Charles and Marianne decide to accept Nunnally's decision, they begin to fade away as Nunnally and Alice sadly watch. Afterwards as they leave the thought elevator, Nunnally realized that her parents and Nemo are really gone, wondering if it was for the best. Alice then states that she will believe in the world Nunnally chose.

After the battle at Kamine Island, the former Irregulars, now without their geasses and no longer in the military, work at the Ashford Academy Refugee camp. Dalque comments that Alice could have become a knight after saving Nunnally, but Sancia states that its just her way of thinking. After helping out the medic team, Alice, now with shorter hair, heads to the academy rooftop, where she meets Nunnally. Nunnally asks what she left without saying anything, but Alice states hat she can't be by Nunnally’s side, blaming herself for Nunnally’s choosing a world without her parents or brother. Alice sees herself as a failure of a knight. Nunnally reiterates that she herself chose a world of hope. She then offers Alice to officially become her knight, which Alice accepts with tears of joy.

Relationships[]

Nunnally vi Britannia[]

Nunnally reminds Alice of her deceased, paraplegic little sister whom she couldn't save during a fire. Her relationship with Nunnally can be compared to that ofLelouch andSuzaku in the anime in that they are dearest friends but also unknown enemies in their secret lives. However while both were shocked to find out the other’s secret; Nunnally being the pilot of Mark Nemo, and Alice being a Britannia soldier, unlike Lelouch and Suzaku their friendship wasn’t damage. Alice ended up defecting and turning against Britanniain went into hiding in order to protect her. Ultimately, Alice even confesses her love to Nunnally, which has a decisive impact on their timeline in that Nunnally in that moment regains her sight and mobility and decides not to go through with Charles’s and Marianne’s plan for a better world. Although the exact nature of this confession is left up to the readers, at the end Nunnally recognizes Alice as her most loyal supporter and makes Alice her first official knight.

Younger Sister[]

Alice once had a younger sister whom she loved dearly but tragically lost in a fire which devastated her. One of the reasons for Alice becoming so protective of Nunnally is because of her similarities to her sister, such as being paraplegic like her, and her guilt at not being powerful enough to prevent her death as she admits to her sister's "spirit" while imprisoned. It was through her affection for her sister, who was the only person Alice ever cared about, that Alice gained the experience of having a loved ones, which she remembered again through her care of Nunnally and did not want to lose it again. Ultimately while Alice will always love and remember her sister, she realizes in the end that it's Nunnally herself that she needs to protect and not her sister's memory or ghost which causes her to accept a contract with Nemo.

Irregulars[]

Alice has a good relationship with her other Irregulars,Sancia,Dalque, andLucretia. Having fought and won many battles together, Alice and her "sisters" have strong comradery and care for each other. While they serve Britannia, their loyalty was tested once Alice turned against their masters and became a fugitive to protect Nunnally and were given the task of finding a killing the former. However, during the battle, the irregulars sided with Alice and turned against Rolo vi Britannia thus proving their loyalty was ultimately to each other rather than Britannia.

Abilities[]

As a Britannian soldier and special agent, Alice is well trained in various related fields including espionage and computer hacking and she is more than efficient with the use of firearms. Even without the use of her Geass, Alice is a capable Knightmare pilot, she is also very athletic and skilled in martial arts.

Geass[]

Like all Irregulars of theBritannian Special Honorary Foreign Legion, Alice's normal physical abilities have been augmented with cells originating fromC.C., giving her aGeass ability called "The Speed," which allows her to hyper-accelerate all objects within a given radius by manipulating gravitational pull. Designated by her unit to pilot aKnightmare Frame customized to exploit this ability, Alice serves as a highly effective point man on the field of battle. When her ability is active, a Geass sigil appears on her forehead. Alice's blood contains a chemical suppressant that minimizes the activity of C.C.'s biological matter, which has a tendency to strain and overtax the human body. Aneutralizer for the suppressant may be administered to temporarily boost the effect of "The Speed" in battle, enabling movement of sufficiently high speed that it resembles teleportation. Her skill with the Geass is so great that even Lelouch and C.C. are impressed by it.

Knightmare[]

After making a deal with Nemo, she becomes able to summon her own knightmare from the Eden Vital, theCode Geass, just like Lelouch. and Rolo. Not only is this knightmare powerful enough to easily subdue Anya, who had completely overwhelmed Suzaku, but it also enhances her geass, allowing her to move freely even inRolo vi Britannia's absolute field, by taking advantage of the minuscule portion of time left by his "The Ice".

Enhanced Durability/Regeneration[]

C.C.'s cells in her body also gives Alice extremely high resilience and regeneration, thus she is able to easily survive and regenerate from being fatally shot as well as falling several stories: such as when she was pushed of the top of the Lake Kawaguchi Hotel.

Nemo and Alice make an appearance inCode Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Lost Stories 2nd Anniversary event story,Mark Alice: Nunnally in Wonderland. In it, they help Nunnally to manifest a new Knightmare Frame, theMark Alice.
