Dr. Gabe Cravens earned his Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies and Minor in Occupational Science degree from the University of Southern California, as well as received both his Master of Arts and Doctorate of Occupational Therapy degree from USC. During his residency at USC’s Undergraduate Minor Program in Occupational Science, Dr. Cravens focused on ways to infuse Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) content into curriculum and implement recommendations for equitable and accessible educational practices. He is passionate about advocating, supporting and empowering students through a liberatory pedagogical approach in the classroom and is currently part of the faculty on USC’s main campus teaching undergraduate level courses such as OT 220: Lifestyle Design: Introduction to Occupational Therapy and OT 310: Creativity Workshop.
Dr. Cravens has a unique interest in advocating and supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and sex workers. His specific research interests include sex, gender affirming care, sexuality, sexual health/education, sex work, harm reduction, justice, diversity, equity and inclusion. Notable presentations on these topics include: OTAC 2021 “Occupational Therapy’s Role in Gender-Affirming Care” and Ithaca College Honorarium 2022 “Introduction to Sex Work”.

The USC entry-level master’s degree program (cost of attendance) is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education® (ACOTE®) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The USC entry-level doctorate in occupational therapy (OTD) degree program (cost of attendance) has applied for accreditation and has been granted Preaccreditation Status by ACOTE®.View our program’s ACOTE® standards public data. ACOTE® c/o the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc.®, 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E, Bethesda, MD 20814, (301) 652-AOTA,www.acoteonline.org. The program must complete an on-site evaluation and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.® (NBCOT®).
