Pan Macmillan Careers

At Pan Macmillan we publish a broad and vibrant range of books for audiences of all ages from dazzling bestsellers to influential prize-winners; books to inspire lifelong readers and listeners to enduring classics for generations to come.

Current Opportunities

Work with us

Everyone who works at Pan Macmillan has a part to play in publishing books that inspire, entertain, educate, inform and comfort. The process begins with our editors and includes designers, production specialists, the rights team who sell our authors’ IP and the legal and contracts teams who protect it, our sales teams who get the books into shops and online retailers around the world, our publicity and marketing colleagues who engage with potential readers for every one of our books and our colleagues in our distribution centres who get our books into the hands of readers everywhere.

Workplace & Culture

We pride ourselves not just in winning awards and publishing the bestselling books in the market, but also on the wellbeing and satisfaction of everyone who works with us. This is a company where all voices are heard and new, creative ideas are welcomed.

We seek to recruit and develop talent from all backgrounds, creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. This has a profound impact on our perspective and ideas, encouraging us to learn from each other and to nurture the best talent leading us to publish books that appeal to the broadest possible readership.

Our mission is to publish the very best authors and illustrators successfully and sustainably because we believe that books enrich people’s lives and help build empathy and understanding.

Making a Difference

  • Reading for Life

We work together to build awareness of the life-changing power of reading and listening.

We reach out to reluctant readers and we employ our knowledge, resources and skills to support and improve the lives of children and adults from disadvantaged communities.

  • Building an inclusive community

We are proud to be a vibrant and inclusive working community, where everyone feels able to be themselves and reach their full potential.

We publish authors and illustrators from all backgrounds for readers and listeners everywhere.

We reach out to communities traditionally under-represented in publishing.

  • Protecting our planet

We are a climate conscious publisher and actively pursue sustainable practices to reduce and reverse the impact our business has on the environment.

Our sustainability team works hard to understand our environmental impact and how we can reduce it and we continually strive to source materials, production, and transport with the smallest environmental footprint as well as to empower the wider workforce to make sustainable choices.

We have an active Green Group, an internal network that supports our colleagues to lessen our individual impact on the planet, and we’re proud to have a dedicated non-fiction imprint, One Boat, that publishes books which inspire small steps towards a more ecologically-minded approach.
