Rainford Hugh Perry (Kendal,Jamaica,20 de març del1936 -Lucea,Jamaica,29 d'agost de2021), conegut també com aLeeScratch Perry,Pipecock Jaxxon oThe Upsetter, fou unmúsic jamaicà, guardonat amb unGrammy, que ha contribuït especialment en els estils musicalsSka,Rocksteady,Reggae, i sobretotDub.[1][2]
Lee Perry va començar la seva carrera professional l'any1950 treballant per l'estudi deClement Coxsone Dodd, el qual més endavant seria anomenatStudio One. A causa de motius econòmics i personals va abandonar la feina, passant a treballar perJoe Gibbs aWirl records fins a l'any1968.Degut de nou a motius econòmics Lee Perry funda el seu propi segell,Upsetter, on treballava amb la seva pròpia banda d'estudi anomenadaThe Upsetters. L'any1973 construeix el seu propi estudi anomenatBlack Ark. Un incendi cremarà l'estudi l'any1978. Perry sempre ha insistit a haver estat l'autor de l'incendi.A finals de la dècada de 1980 comença a treballar ambAdrian Sherwood iNeil Fraser (Mad Professor).L'any2003 rep el guardóGrammy pel seu treballJamaican E.T., i el2004 és considerat per la revistaRolling Stone com un dels 100 millors artistes de tots els temps.Actualment resideix aSuïssa, on ha creat la bandaLee Perry and the White Belly Rats, i segueix fent gravacions.
L'any 2015 es va presentar la pel·lícula documentalLee Scratch Perry's Vision of Paradise filmada al llarg de tretze anys sobre un dels principals protagonistes de la música contemporània.[3]
