Update to v3.0, backports from Remastered


A long overdue update to Runecairn: Core Rules. When I published Runecairn Wardensaga Remasteded, I made some tweaks and corrections to the text of the Core Rules, along with updating the layout. I’ve taken those changes and reincorporated these (backported, to borrow a videogame term) into Core Rules.

Runecairn Core Rules Changelog v3.0:

New:

  • Added note to Mead flask & healing around increasing flask sips
  • Added new status effects from the Bestiary (dismembered, toxic)
  • Added Trade & merchants section to Concepts of Play
  • Introduced ability cap of 18 in Spending Souls section
  • Added note of standard movement speed to Actions
  • Added note that Adventurers need to choose to react before the Warden rolls damage
  • Added line around attacks hitting automatically to Attacking & Damage
  • Added Damage modifiers section from the Bestiary
  • Added image of Dwarf to Monsters
  • Added image of Lindworm to Monsters
  • Added image of Warg to MonstersCorrections:
  • Corrected sunder damage (should be d4)
  • Corrected minor errors in Adventurer Creation Example
  • Corrected section in Combat Example where multiple attacker damage wasn’t right
  • Corrected minor errors in Omens table
  • Corrected description of swaying spear spell to change giant to jotunnUpdates:
  • Minor text tweaks throughout for clarity and spacing
  • Updated Principles sections for clarity
  • Updated Adventurer Creation section for clarity
  • Changed Name to Name and Traits
  • Added note about Pronouns to Name and Traits
  • Updated descriptions of ability scores
  • Changed Starting Class to Background
  • Updated Background section for clarity
  • Changed Skald skill lightning knife to scold
  • Updated Scout item image
  • Added scold to equipment skills section
  • Added crush equipment skill for breaking maul and updated smash ability
  • Added Background section to Concepts of Play
  • Shuffled around items in Concepts of Play
  • Moved Saves section to the beginning of Concepts of Play
  • Split Defence explanations between Concepts of Play and Combat
  • Updated Spending souls section for clarity
  • Updated Actions section for clarity
  • Updated Reactions section for clarity
  • Updated Blast, Critical damage, Death sections for clarity
  • Changed spell name: Magic Protection to Magic Shield
  • Updated Safety Check for clarity
  • Updated Treant image
