What would Gravity’s Rainbow sound like as a rap album? Here is an album which, if we may, reminds the listener of their whispered allegiances to fundamental realities. The brushstrokes are delicate, stabbing, pointed. The overwhelming crescendo they whirl towards may be one of bitterness, and rightfully so. There is also lightness. A black man is giggling and pointing at you. It may have everything and nothing to do with rap and one’s place in it. Humiliation, no longer a threat—but a reality, has been exhausted. Perfect Hair is what remains.

On Perfect Hair, Busdriver’s 8th official album, he defies the betted ante. The pieces, parts, sinews, synapses, synopses, passions, thrusts, and bits burst outward and realign of their own tremendous gravity in a dark and personal way. It is on this album that an OG announces his presence.

This is my favorite R.A.P. Ferreira project. It is filled with lyrical mastery that is just rare. You are taken on journey across the country, world, space & time. Finding a favorite song is nearly impossible since so much of the album is perfect. 10 out of 10 for this one.Choco Thunda
