Zoey's Gastrodon (Japanese:ノゾミのトリトドンNozomi's Tritodon) is aPokémon owned byZoey. It appears to be one of her signature Pokémon, along withGlameow.

History

Gastrodon and Zoey

Zoeycaught Gastrodon as a Shellos shortly after the events ofBuizel Your Way Out Of This!. After failing to catch awildBuizel thatDawn later caught, Zoey was revealed to have stayed in the area around the river to find anotherWater-typePokémon, which turned out to be Shellos.

Shellos debuted inA Stand-Up Sit-Down!, where it helped itsTrainer teachDawn aboutDouble Performances in preparation for theHearthomeContest. It created a stunningcombination with its ownMud Bomb attack andGlameow'sShock Wave. The two later teamed up for Zoey's battle withJessilina. Their combinations were far better thanSeviper's andDustox's and they won the match.

Zoey used it in the first round of the Hearthome City Pokémon Contest inDawn's Early Night!, where it teamed up with Glameow yet again in a Double Performance. The combination of their moves impressed theContest Judges and placed Zoey among the eight hard-workingPokémon Coordinators that advanced to theBattle Stage.

It later made a short appearance inPruning a Passel of Pals!, beating aMareep in theWallace Cup allowing Zoey to move on to the next round. InPlaying The Leveling Field!, it was revealed that Shellos helped win Zoey her thirdRibbon.

InLast Call — First Round!, it was revealed to haveevolved into aGastrodon. Zoey used it in thePerformance Stage of theSinnoh Grand Festival with Lumineon where they performed with theirWater Pulse andAqua Ring attacks to give a unique appeal. After making it through the round, the two Pokémon were used in Zoey'sfirst round battle where once again they won. It was used onceagain in the event with Glameow to secure Zoey's place in the semifinals.

Personality and characteristics

As a Shellos, it was easily scared, as shown inits debut whenZoey introduced it toAsh andhis friends. Shellos was particularly intimidated byDawn's Buizel due to the way Buizel approached it. When performing, however, Shellos displays its confidence, showcasing itsmoves and skills in impressive ways.

It appears to be Zoey's second most used Pokémon in a similar way toNando's Kricketune, even being stated byBrock inDouble-Time Battle Training! that it is one of her most reliable Pokémon.
