Xatu (Japanese:ネイティオNatio) is a dual-typePsychic/FlyingPokémon introduced inGeneration II.

Itevolves fromNatu starting atlevel 25.

Biology

Xatu is a green,trogon-likePokémon with long, red-and-black tipped white wings that cover most of its front. Underneath its wings are designs that resemble red eyes. Along with its main green coloration, Xatu's design has accents of black, yellow, and red. There is an extra set of yellow stripes on a male Xatu. It has almond eyes, a long, slightly hooked beak, and two long, red feather crests. Xatu's feet have only two toes, one in front and one in back. Xatu's design is similar to atotem pole or akachina doll.

Xatu tends to stand still all day, constantly observing the sun's movement. One theory explains that Xatu can see into the future with its right eye and the past with its left, and it does not move due to fears of its visions of the future coming true. ThePokémon the Series episodeXatu the Future has shown that it can communicate by moving its wings in asemaphore fashion. Xatu is believed to live inthe forests ofSouth America.

• Pokémon Mystery Dungeon:Xatu lives on theHill of the Ancients, located beyond theGreat Canyon. Xatu is well regarded as a wise Pokémon with the ability to see into the future. The player first consults Xatu in an attempt to learn why they were turned into a Pokémon. Later on, he creates theTeleport Gem to teleport the player to theSky Tower. After getting theClear Wing fromSpinda, Xatu reveals that the player must first go to the three fields and face the lord of the areas (theLegendary beasts). Xatu occasionally visitsPokémon Square for shopping and gaveMeteor Cave its name on one of these trips. Similarly inPokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, Xatu looks at the sunset atSand Dune of Spirits and plays a part in the post-game.
• Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness andSky: Xatu runs a shop inTreasure Town called Xatu's Appraisal. He unlocks anyTreasure Boxes found in dungeons for 150Poké per box.
• Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon: The same Xatu fromRed and Blue Rescue Team plays a part in the post-story in bringing back thePartner.
