TheX Sp. Atk (Japanese:スペシャルアップSpecial Up), known asX Special prior toGeneration VI, is a type ofbattle item introduced inGeneration I. It temporarily boosts a Pokémon'sSpecial Attack stat. In Generation I, it boosted theSpecial stat.

Effect
Generation I
When used from theBag during battle, it raises theSpecial of a Pokémon currently in battle by 1 level.
Generations II to VI
When used from theBag during battle, it raises theSpecial Attack of a Pokémon currently in battle by 1 level. It also increases the Pokémon'sfriendship a little.
Generation VII onward
When used from theBag during battle, it raises the Special Attack of a Pokémon currently in battle by 2 levels. It also increases the Pokémon'sfriendship a little.

The X Special appears as fourWonder Launcher items, increasing the Special Attack stat by 1, 2, 3 or 6 levels. It costs 3, 5, 7, or 11 points to use respectively.

Pokémon Masters EX
InPokémon Masters EX, X Sp. Atks can only be used by certainsync pairs who have them as an item move. In addition, a variant of X Sp. Atk called X Sp. Atk All can be used by certain sync pairs. Both of these item moves have 2 MP. An X Sp. Atk only raises the user's Special Attack, while an X Sp. Atk All raises the Special Attack of all allies.
