Lizardon Mega Battle merchandise

The Lizardon Mega Battle was the first in a series of large-scale tournaments with a theme focusing on a single Pokémon. It takes inspiration from the original Lizardon Mega Battle held in Japan in 1998, the second official domestic tournament to be held. Tournaments were hosted at the Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama on the weekend of May 3–4, 2014, and at Intex Osaka, Osaka on the weekend of May 17–18, 2014.

People could participate in the main Lizardon Mega Battle event as well as a number of smaller side events on different days. The first day comprised the qualifying for the Lizardon Mega Battle event as well as the Triple Beat Battle and 5 on 5 Battle side events. The second day consisted of the Lizardon Mega Battle final round and the following side events: the Tag Battle, the Mega Charizard VS Battle, the One Day Battle, and the Gym Leader Challenge. All participants were given aGarchomp-EX promotional card featuring the event logo upon entry.

Lizardon Mega Battle participants could register for 1 of 2 leagues: the A League, limited to elementary school students, or the B League, open to those in junior high school and above. Rayquaza Mega Battle merchandise

The Rayquaza Mega Battle was a large-scale domestic event that allowed players from all over Japan to compete for the right to represent their country in the2015 World Championships. It was held at four locations: at the Nagoya Trade & Industry Center, Nagoya on May 5, 2015, at Makuhari Messe, Chiba on May 9 and 10, 2015, at the Sapporo Factory, Sapporo on May 23 and 24, 2015, and at Intex Osaka, Osaka on May 31, 2015.

All entrants were given aSwampert-EX promotional card upon entry at each venue. A slew of exclusive merchandise was also available for purchase at pop-upPokémon Centers, including a Rayquaza Mega Battle Pin for ¥500 and a Mega Rayquaza themed Deck Tin reminiscent of the EnglishElite Trainer Deck Shields for ¥950. Patrons who presented a voucher included withinRayquaza Mega Battle Packs to floor staff were given aM Blaziken-EX XY-P Promotional card.

Each Rayquaza Mega Battle event consisted of 2 tiers: the A League, limited to elementary school students, or the B League, open to those in junior high school and above. Each held two concurrent qualifying rounds followed by a final round. One of these was the main Rayquaza Mega Battle qualifying round, which could be entered by placing in the top three at preceding Rayquaza Gym Battle or Rayquaza Pokémon Center Battle events prior to the tournament. The Rayquaza Gym Battle was held between March 1 and March 25, 2015 at participating Pokémon Card Gym venues. The Rayquaza Pokémon Center Battle was held at participating Pokémon Centers across two periods for different age categories: between March 28 and April 4, 2015 (all ages), and between March 29 and April 5, 2015 (elementary school students). Competitors in the main Rayquaza Mega Battle qualifying round were divided into groups and played several rounds of single-elimination matches to determine an overall group winner, who would go on to compete in the final round. The second qualifier was the Rayquaza Mega Battle Last Challenge, which was structured more like previous large-scale Japanese tournaments. All competitors began at the 'First Stage' and could advance to the 'Second Stage' by recording two consecutive wins. A further three consecutive wins at the 'Second Stage' granted players entry into the final round. Players knocked out in the main qualifying round could also participate in the Last Challenge qualifier. Players who progressed to the second single-elimination round in the main Rayquaza Mega Battle qualifying round or the 'Second Stage' in the Rayquaza Mega Battle Last Challenge qualifier earned an exclusive print ofMega Turbo.

The top three players following the conclusion of the final round were awardedVictory Ring promotional cards. The top twelve players in each of their respective leagues would subsequently earn an invitation to the Rayquaza Mega Battle Japan Championships, held at Pokémon Center Osaka on the weekend of June 27–28, 2015. The top four players of the finals from each league would earn an invitation to the World Championships, and the overall winners from each league were awarded a Mega Rayquaza trophy.

The Rayquaza Mega Battle also featured prizes that could be redeemed for Play Points, which were awarded by participating in various events at each venue. Eligible events included the qualifying rounds of the main tournament, the 3 on 3 Battle, and the Knockout Battle. At 1 Play Point, players could choose between the event's exclusive Gold Cracked Ice Holofoil Mega Rayquazacoin or one of four sets of stickers available exclusively at the event. The prize at 3 points was player's choice of 1 of the 8 different prints of theGym BadgeXY-P Promo. Nine points earned players aM Swampert-EX XY-P Promotional card. 29 points earned the top prize—an exclusive Rayquaza Mega Battle T-shirt featuringPikachu. Every prize could be redeemed more than once, except for the T-shirt.

Attendants at each venue also conducted exchanges for the Pokémon Card Chance campaign, which initially ran as a postal exchange campaign between March 14 and May 7, 2015. People could exchange three "1 point" cards found in specially markedEmerald Break booster packs for aShinyRayquaza-EX promotional card. There was no limit on how many cards any one person could redeem, other than the quantity supplied at each venue.

Summer Battle 2015 merchandise

Another Summer Battle hosted in partnership withCoroCoro Ichiban! was the final event of its kind to be held at participating stores across Japan. Hosted on select days between July 4 and 26, 2015, each of these events held two types of match for people to challenge. Morning sessions consisted of the Tag Battle, which involved 2-player teams. All participants were given a Pokémon Card Gym promotional pack, while members of a team achieving 3 consecutive wins were each given an additional pack. Members of a team achieving at least 1 win were each given a certificate that could be shown to staff at Pokémon Card Gym venues in exchange for an additional prize. Afternoon sessions consisted of the Bandit Ring Heat Up Battle, where players would attempt to achieve as many straight wins as possible. All players began at the 'Challenge Stage' and would go onto the 'Premier Stage' after 2 consecutive wins. The number of consecutive wins achieved at the 'Premier Stage' determined the top finishers. All participants were given a Pokémon Card Gym promotional pack. The top 3 players were given a ¥500CoroCoro Ichiban! Original Tosho Card (Japanese:コロコロイチバン オリジナル図書カード). Players who registered a deck containing 4 or more cards from the recently releasedBandit Ring expansion were also given a sticker sheet featuringHoopa.
