Gameplay

Generation III

This section is incomplete.
Please feel free to edit this section to add missing information and complete it.
Reason: How much money does the "Something Good" fallback option give? Is it the same as the "Lots of Money" wish?

In the original games, any Pokémon entering the dungeon are reduced to level 1, returning to their original level on exiting it.HMSurf is required to enter this dungeon. The game will be saved compulsorily before entering and the amount of money carried will be reduced to 0.

Floors 25 to 62 are shrouded in darkness, limiting field of view in hallways to 2 tiles. On floors 63 to 98, the field is limited further, to just one tile.

TheLeaf Stone,King's Rock, andUpgrade can only be obtained through purchase fromKecleon Shop in this dungeon.

Unlike most dungeons, the player has 30 chances to attempt to rescue another player usingSOS Mail, rather than the customary 10.

The Wish Stone on 50F will be replaced by aLink Cable if player already has one either in their inventory orKangaskhan Storage. After defeating Jirachi on 99F, if the player has this item in their inventory and chooses not to accept Jirachi as a team member, it will grant one of the following wishes:

WishEffect
Lots of MoneyJirachi will give between 10,000 and 18,000 Poké. The money must be collected manually.
Lots of ItemsJirachi will give 25 random items that can be found in Wish Cave. Items must be collected manually. Since more items are given than the Toolbox's capacity, any unclaimed items will be lost.
Friend AreaJirachi will give one of theFriend Areas to the rescue team for free. If all Friend Areas are obtained, Jirachi will mention the player having many already, and will be unable to grant the wish, and will ask for another wish.
More PowerJirachi will give 20 food and drink items that permanently raise stats. Items must be collected manually. Jirachi will warn the player not to use these items within the dungeon, as their power will reset upon leaving the dungeon to what it was before they entered.
Something GoodOne of the following will happen:
  • A Pokémon that is not currently recruited will show up in front of theTeam Base. This Pokémon will ask to join the team, giving the requiredFriend Area in the process if necessary.Legendaries, Pokémon belonging to aFriend Area that is currently full, andopposite-version-exclusive Pokémon that have not yet been unlocked viaWonder Mail cannot be obtained this way.
  • Jirachi will raise the rescue rank to the next level. If anyWonder Mail missions were completed during the dungeon, the rank will be upgraded after receiving the points and rewards.
  • If the player's team is Lucario (max) Rank and has recruited all eligible Pokémon, the player will receive money.

The player will still have the Wish Stone afterwards. If the player somehow faints after receiving the wish, it will not be granted.

Generation VIII

In the remake, any Pokémon entering the dungeon are reduced to level 5, returning to their original level on exiting it. NoHM is required for entry.

The Wishing Stone is now no longer an item appearing in the inventory and therefore cannot be lost once obtained, like theTeleport Gem. After rescuing Medicham and defeating Jirachi, Jirachi will grant one of the following wishes:

WishEffect
Lots of moneyJirachi will give 20,000 Poké.
Lots of itemsJirachi will give 16 random items that can be found in Wish Cave. Items received are sent to theKangaskhan Storage.
A CampJirachi will give one of theRescue team camps to the rescue team for free. If all camps are obtained, Jirachi will mention the player having many already, and will be unable to grant the wish, and will ask for another wish.
More StrengthJirachi will give 16 food and drink items that permanently raise stats. Items received are sent to the Kangaskhan Storage.
Something Good!A non-boss Pokémon (outside of Kecleon, and Pokémon that were not present in Gen III) will show up in front of the Team Base and can be recruited, giving the required Camp in the process if necessary. The players can only receive duplicates using this method if every possible Pokémon is currently in the team. Wurmple that evolve into Silcoon and Wurmple that evolve into Cascoon are treated as different Pokémon.

After granting the chosen wish, Jirachi joins the player's team. Returning to 99F after completing the dungeon for the first time causes Jirachi to temporarily revisit Wish Cave, and grant the player another of the above wishes.
