Watt (Japanese:ワットWatt) is a minor recurring character inPokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire. He is the assistant toWattson at theMauville Gym.

History

Watt debuted inWatt's with Wattson?. He tended to stand aside and letWattson do everything, but he served as thereferee inAsh'sGymbattle for theDynamo Badge. Watt realized something was amiss when Wattson fled following his defeat, and he later led the group toa nearby abandoned power plant. AfterTeam Rocket's defeat, Watt was relieved that Wattson decided to resume his role asMauvilleGym Leader.

When Ash andhis friends returned inManectric Charge, Watt battledMay and herSkitty with hisAmpharos. Skitty proved to be stronger and defeated Ampharos. Watt later informed May that aPokémon Contest was taking place inVerdanturf Town.

Ampharos
Watt's Ampharos

Ampharos is Watt's only known Pokémon. It first appeared inManectric Charge, where it used Iron Tail to breakTeam Rocket's net and releaseAsh andhis friends' Pokémon. Then, its Thunder Shock, combined withAsh's Pikachu usingThunder andWattson's Electrike usingThunder Wave, was able to send Team Rocket blasting off.

Later in theMauville Gym, after seeing how wellMay trained herSkitty, Watt used his Ampharos to test her skills in a battle. Skitty was having a hard time, but was able to fight back in the end, defeating Ampharos.

Ampharos's known moves areIron Tail andThunder Shock.
