Water (TCG)
TheWater type (Japanese:水Water) is one of the elevenTCG types. It is represented by the color blue, and symbolized by a water droplet.
The Water type contains mostWater- andIce-type Pokémon found in the main series video games. For example,Blastoise,Articuno, andPiloswine are all Water types in the TCG.
The correspondingBasic Energy card isBasic Water Energy. Where the
symbol appears in an attackcost, it indicates that a Water Energy must be attached to the Pokémon in order for the Pokémon to use that attack.
Battle properties
Generally, Water Pokémon have a weakness to:
- Lightning, if the Pokémon isWater-type in thegames.
- Before theSword & Shield expansion, this occurs if the Pokémon is Water-type but notGround-type orRock-type in the games.
- Grass, if the Pokémon is a Water/Ground-type or Water/Rock-type Pokémon in the games (before the Sword & Shield expansion).
- Fighting, if the Pokémon isIce-type in the games (onlyWalrein ex fromEX Legend Maker).
- Metal, if the Pokémon isIce-type in the games.

The followingEnergy cards provide Water Energy. Special Energy cards only provide Water Energy when attached to a Pokémon.

Pokémon Trading Card Game series
InPokémon Trading Card Game, there are31 Water-type Pokémon cards. InPokémon Trading Card Game 2: The Invasion of Team GR!, there are63 Water-type Pokémon cards.
TheWater Energy card is available in both games. Additionally, in the second game only, theRainbow Energy provides any kind of basic Energy (including Water Energy).
Trivia
- The Water type is the only one to not have aSingle Strike Pokémon, except for the retiredFairy type.
