Trick Room (Japanese:トリックルームTrick Room) is a non-damagingPsychic-typemove introduced inGeneration IV.
It is:
- TM92 from Generation IV toPokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and inPokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
- TM70 inPokémon Sword and Shield.
- TM161 inPokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Effect
Trick Room reverses the move order within eachpriority bracket so that Pokémon with a lowerSpeed stat attack first, while those with a higher Speed stat will attack last. Individual brackets are still maintained; moves in higher priority brackets still work before moves in lower ones regardless of Trick Room. This effect lasts for five turns, and using Trick Room counts as the first turn. Similar toMagic Room andWonder Room, using Trick Room while it is already in effect will end it immediately.
Effects that alter the order of specific priority brackets override Trick Room. Therefore, Pokémon holdingFull Incense orLagging Tail and Pokémon withStall will go last in their priority bracket regardless of their Speed stat. Pokémon activatingQuick Claw will go first in their priority bracket.
Trick Room has apriority of -7, so will be used after all moves with a normal priority.
FromGeneration V onwards, due to the way Trick Room affects Speed calculation, Pokémon with 1809 or more Speed will still act before Pokémon slower than 1809, even in Trick Room. Specifically, Pokémon with a Speed stat closest to 1809 without going under go first. This is because, under Trick Room, every Pokemon's Speed is set to (10,000 - (their actual Speed)) modulo 8,192.
If powered up by aPsychium Z into Z-Trick Room, the user'saccuracy is raised by one stage.

In other games
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series
In theExplorers andAdventure Squad series, Trick Room targets all Pokémon on the floor and randomly increases or decreases their Movement Speed by one stage (even if already at maximum or minimum).
FromPokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity onward, Trick Room reverses any changes toTravel Speed. The Trick Roomdungeon status lasts until the player's team progresses to the next floor. It will not affect the permanent Travel Speed boost of opposingKecleon. Unlike the main series games, using Trick Room again does not end its effect.
