The Black Arachnid (Japanese:怪盗猫八The Phantom ThiefNekohachi) was a cat burglar and one of the greatest thieves in the history ofJohto. He appeared as acharacter of the day in a flashback inSpinarak Attack.

Operating out ofCatallia City 100 years ago, the Black Arachnid was a clever, quick, and agile thief who employed aMeowth to help him pick locks. The two stole many priceless treasures and always usedPay Day to cause a distraction long enough to scare away the police and make their getaway.

AnOfficer Jenny apprehended the pair with herSpinarak's strong webs, and to this day, all of the police officers of Catallia City use Spinarak as a tribute to her.
