Terrakion (Japanese:テラキオンTerrakion) is a dual-typeRock/FightingLegendary Pokémon introduced inGeneration V.

While it is not known toevolve into or from any Pokémon, theParadox PokémonIron Boulder is said to be either a future relative of Terrakion or a version of it from a parallel timeline.

Along withCobalion,Virizion, andKeldeo, Terrakion is a member of theSwords of Justice. In themovieKyurem VS. The Sword of Justice, they are also associated withKyurem.

Biology

Terrakion creating a blade while usingSacred Sword

Terrakion is a bovine, quadrupedalPokémon. It has a black, rounded forehead adorned with two brown, axe-like horns that curve forward. Its face is beige with orange eyes and a short snout. On top of its head are several short spikes. Down its back are two brown ridges that join just past its humped shoulders. There are two orange protrusions on its shoulders. The bands around its legs are the same color as its face, and it has black hooves underneath these bands. Its striped underside is also beige. It has a short, stubby tail.

According to legend, Terrakion, alongside the otherSwords of Justice had challenged thehumans in order to protect other Pokémon from losing their homes to humanity's expansion. During the battle, Terrakion shaped the earth and created a passage to escape. The three Swords distrust humans because of a war that resulted in a forest fire inMoor of Icirrus. It is said to possess phenomenal strength and can destroy a castle wall with a single blow. Should a small Pokémon be bullied by anyone or anything, Terrakion will crush them without mercy. As seen inPokémon Horizons: The Series, like otherLegendary Pokémon, Terrakion can be found in the Pokémon paradiseLaqua. As seen in bothPokémon the Series andPokémon Adventures, it can create anenergy blade out of its head. Terrakion lovesTerrakion Treats made bySnacksworth, who once sat and enjoyed some snacks with it in the past.Iron Boulder shares a resemblance to Terrakion and is believed to be a futuristic Terrakion that was modified by avillainous organization.

InGeneration V,Sacred Sword was itssignature move.

Trivia

Origin

Terrakion is based on the character ofPorthos from the novelThe Three Musketeers.[1] Like Porthos, Terrakion is the heaviest, largest, and strongest member of the trio. It also has traits ofbighorn sheep andoxen, with the charging behavior ofbulls. Like the other members of its trio, its nose resembles that of asheep, goat, or other hooved animal. Its horns are modeled after axes.[1]

Terrakion's Rock typing may reference Porthos's surname of "du Vallon de Bracieux de Pierrefonds", which containspierre, French for stone.

Name origin

Terrakion may be a combination ofterra (Latin for earth) orterracotta (aclay-based material, as well as its respective color),takin, andchampion.
