Pokémon world locations

Terra Cave (Japanese:りくのどうくつLand Cave) is a cave inHoenn that only appears inPokémon Emerald.

Unlike most other locations, the location of Terra Cave is not set at all; it can be determined by speaking with a man at Hoenn'sWeather Institute, who will explain that one of fourroutes is under abnormal weather conditions. If theplayer does not reach Terra Cave fast enough, it will temporarily disappear andMarine Cave will appear. However, onceKyogre is defeated/caught in Marine Cave, or if the player did not arrive there fast enough, Terra Cave will reappear and relocate. It is able to appear in places as far from each other asRoute 115 andRoute 118, though it mostly sticks to the western side ofHoenn. InPokémon Emerald, it is the only place whereGroudon can be caught. It will only appear once the player has entered theHall of Fame, and will disappear completely after Groudon has been either caught or defeated.

Its counterpart isMarine Cave, and the two caves cannot appear at the same time. Theplayer must defeat, catch, or leave theLegendary Pokémon alone long enough before the other cave will appear.

Special encounters

AGroudon will appear in the back of the cave on the first visit. If run from, it respawns upon leaving the area.
