Synthesis (Japanese:こうごうせいPhotosynthesis) is a non-damagingGrass-typemove introduced inGeneration II.

Effect

Generation II

Synthesis restores the user's currentHP based on theweather andtime of day. In morning and night, during no weather it restores ¼ total HP, duringharsh sunlight it restores ½ total HP, and during other weather it restores ⅛ total HP, rounded down. Except in link battles, the move restores twice as much HP during the daytime.

Generation III onwards

Synthesis restores the user's current HP based on theweather in the battle. During no weather or duringstrong winds, it restores ½ total HP, duringharsh sunlight, it restores ⅔ total HP, and during other weather, it restores ¼ total HP, rounded down.

Synthesis can be used as the second move of aPokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 1 bonus appeal point ifSunny Day was used in the previous turn. It is also part of a Contest Spectacular combination and will give an extra three appeal points if the moveSunny Day was used in the prior turn.

If powered up by aGrassium Z into Z-Synthesis, all of the user's lowered stats are reset.
