Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield (Japanese:ソードSword andシールドShield) is the name given to the first main expansion of cards from the Sword & Shield Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (the Sword & Shield Era in Japan). The set is the first to featureGeneration VIII,Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX in the card game.

Welcome to the Galar region! Meet more than a dozen powerful new Pokémon V, including the Legendary Zacian and Zamazenta—and some, like Stonjourner and Snorlax, that can evolve into enormous Pokémon VMAX for even more power! You'll also find first partners Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble, little cuties like Wooloo and Yamper, and a handful of familiar Pokémon in their new Galarian forms. Information

Sword & Shield is the name given to the first main expansion of theSword & Shield Series of thePokémon Trading Card Game. In Japan, it was released as theSword · Shield dual sets that make up the first expansion block in the Pokémon Card Game Sword & Shield Era. It is based onPokémon Sword and Shield, featuringGeneration VIII Pokémon and the two gameLegendary PokémonZacian andZamazenta. The English expansion was released on February 7, 2020, while the Japanese expansion was released on December 6, 2019.

A few changes were done to the card template.Stage 1 andStage 2 Pokémon now have a number of arches between the name andHP: one arch for Stage 1 Pokémon, and two arches for Stage 2 Pokémon. Additionally, copyright information was moved to the card's bottom border.

Starting with this set, theFairy type was retired, withFairy-type Pokémon being represented by thePsychic type. Additionally,Poison-type Pokémon changed from being represented by the Psychic type to theDarkness type, and the player going first cannot play aSupporter card on the first turn.
