Swift (Japanese:スピードスターSpeed Star) is a damage-dealingNormal-typemove introduced inGeneration I.

Generation I
In the Western versions of the Generation I handheld games, as well as inPokémon Stadium, Swift inflicts damage and bypassesaccuracy checks to always hit. It can hit a Pokémon even during thesemi-invulnerable turn of a move such asDig orFly.
In the Japanese versions of the Generation I handheld games, Swift functions as a 100% accuracy move due toa glitch, unless the opponent is behind asubstitute; if it is, Swift can never miss, even if the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.
Generation II onwards
Swift now bypassesaccuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in thesemi-invulnerable turn of a move such asDig orFly.
Swift hits opposing adjacent Pokémon in battles featuring multiple Pokémon.
