Steve (Japanese:スティーブSteve) andTony (Japanese:トニーTony) are the assistants ofVisquez, the stand-inGym Leader at theVermilion Gym whileLt. Surge is absent.

In animation

InPokémon Journeys: The Series, Steve and Tony are characters who appeared inDestination: Coronation!, with Tony also appearing inBetrayed, Bothered, and Beleaguered!. They are in charge of cleaning up theGym after abattle has occurred. Tony also acts asreferee during Gym battles, while Steve keeps track of Visquez'sWorld Coronation Series ranking and potential challengers.

After winning a Gym battle, Visquez was eager to challenge someone participating in the World Coronation Series to improve her ranking. Steve announced that a challenger was nearby, which turned out to beAsh. During Visquez's battle against Ash, they watched the battles from the stands, as World Coronation Series battles are refereed by aDrone Rotom. Visquez ultimately lost the battle, and her rank subsequently dropped, much to the dismay of Steve and Tony.

InBetrayed, Bothered, and Beleaguered!, Tony had his own World Coronation Series match against Ash. He used hisElectabuzz againstAsh's Riolu but lost, causing his ranking to go down.
