Snore (Japanese:いびきSnore) is a damage-dealingNormal-typemove introduced inGeneration II. It wasTM13 in Generation II andTM24 inPokémon Sword and Shield.

Effect

Snore can only be used if the user is currentlyasleep; otherwise, it will fail. Snore inflicts damage and has a 30% chance of causing the target toflinch.

A Pokémon with the AbilityComatose is also treated as an asleep Pokémon, and can successfully use Snore (orSleep Talk) without having the sleep status condition.

Snore is asound-based move.

Generation II

Snore has a base power of 40.

Snore is affected byKing's Rock.

If used on a Pokémon behind asubstitute, it hits that Pokémon's substitute.

Generation III

IfSleep Talk or Snore is used at least once consecutively in the turns right before switching out, the Pokémon will sleep for the same amount of turns as were remaining prior to the usage of those two moves when switched back in.

Snore can be used as the second move of aPokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 4 bonus appeal points ifRest was used in the previous turn.

Generation IV

Turns where Snore is used are always counted towards waking the Pokémon.

Generation V

Snore is no longer affected byKing's Rock.

Generation VI onwards

Snore's power changed from 40 to 50.

Snore can now hit Pokémon even if they are behind a substitute.

Snore can also be used as part of aContest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points ifRest was used in the prior turn.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

Snore deals damage and may cause the enemy toflinch. Using it manually will have no effect, and the move will only work when the user is asleep. The move cannot be linked.

In theRescue Team andExplorers series, Snore will automatically be used if the Pokémon is asleep and attacked. Although it has a range of one tile, it will still trigger if the attacker is out of range. It is unaffected by thecowering andflinching (cringing) status conditions, but is affected by theMuzzled status condition. Being a sound-based move, it is blocked bySoundproof. This move will always be picked overSleep Talk.

InSuper Mystery Dungeon, Snore is now automatically triggered when the user is asleep and an enemy is adjacent to the user. If bothSleep Talk and Snore are available in the Pokémon's moveset, the move which is listed first will be selected.
