Sing (Japanese:うたうSing) is a non-damagingNormal-typemove introduced inGeneration I. It isTM111 inPokémon Legends: Z-A.
Effect
Sing puts the target tosleep.
Pokémon withInsomnia,Vital Spirit,Shields Down (with the shield active), orComatose as theirAbility are immune to sleep. Pokémon withSoundproof (due to it being a sound-based move) are also immune to Sing.
Sing is asound-based move.
Generation I
In the handheld games only, Sing can affect a target behind asubstitute.
Generation II
Sing can no longer affect a target behind a substitute.
In the Generation IIcore series games, when an in-game opponent outside of theBattle Tower uses Sing, the move has a 25% chance to fail in addition to its normal chance to miss.
Generations III to V
Sing can be used as the first move of aPokémon Contest combination, causingPerish Song andRefresh to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn.
Generation VI onwards
Sing can now hit a target behind a substitute.
If powered up by aNormalium Z into Z-Sing, the user'sSpeed stat is raised by one stage.Throat Chop cannot prevent a Pokémon from using Z-Sing.
Sing can be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, causing certain moves (Dream Eater,Hex,Nightmare andWake-Up Slap) to give an extra three appeal points if used in the next turn.
