Shauna andCalem in Vaniville TownShauna watching the fireworks with Serena
Shauna appears inPokémon X and Y as a friend of the player. Shauna is energetic and curious about her friends' progress in their travels, though she lacks a clear goal herself. She also enjoys solving puzzles, and is a friend ofClemont andBonnie.
After the player becomes theChampion, she will trade the player the unevolved form of herfirst partner Pokémon in exchange for any Pokémon owned by the player.
Shauna appeared inThe Visionary. She andSerena joinedCalem after he had defeatedLysandre at theTeam Flare Secret HQ. When Lysandre started firing theultimate weapon, the three young Trainers fled the HQ together. Afterwards, they witnessed the weapon sinking back into the ground.
In thePokémon Adventuresmanga, Shauna is an aspiringFurfrougroomer. Additionally, she is childhood friends withX,Y,Tierno, andTrevor. Unlike her game counterpart, she's known for being cynical and snarky a lot of the time.
Shauna was introduced as aSupporter card in thePokémon Trading Card Game during the English XY Series (the Japanese XY Era). First released in the JapaneseXerneas andYveltal Half Decks, the Shauna card later debuted in English in theXY expansion, with each print featuring an illustration based on the officialKen Sugimori artwork for the character. With the same effect asProfessor Oak's Research ofExpedition Base Set, Shauna allows the player to shuffle their hand into their deck and draw five new cards.
ExcludingCalem/Serena, Shauna is the only rival introduced inPokémon X and Y to not be mentioned by name inPokémon Legends: Z-A. However,L does vaguely bring up 5 children he encountered 5 years prior, which would include her.
↑In thePokémon X and Y website, Shauna is introduced as an "energetic girl" (元気いっぱいの女の子), where 元気いっぱいgenki-ippai (literally "brimming with vitality") is a common expression to describe good health. The character introductions forTierno andTrevor also appears to similarly hint to their name origins.
