Effect

Screech decreases the target'sDefense stat by two stat stages.

Screech is asound-based move.

If powered up by aNormalium Z into Z-Screech, the user'sAttack stat rises by one stage.Throat Chop cannot prevent a Pokémon from using Z-Screech.

Generation I-II

Screech cannot affect a Pokémon behind asubstitute.

In the Generation I and IIcore series games, when an in-game opponent outside of theBattle Tower uses Screech, the move has a 25% chance to fail in addition to its normal chance to miss.

Generation III-V

Screech no longer has an additional chance to fail when used by an in-game opponent.

Generation VI onwards

Screech can now hit Pokémon even if they are behind a substitute.
