Scale Shot (Japanese:スケイルショットScale Shot) is a damage-dealingDragon-typemultistrike move introduced duringGeneration VIII, inThe Isle of Armor. It isTM200 inPokémon Scarlet and Violet andTM143 inPokémon Legends: Z-A.

Effect

Scale Shot inflicts damage, hitting the target 2-5 times per use. If the user does not miss, the user'sSpeed is raised by one stage, while itsDefense is lowered by one stage. Each strike made has an equal chance to be acritical hit.

There is a 35% chance that it will hit 2 times, a 35% chance it will hit 3 times, a 15% chance it will hit 4 times, and a 15% chance it will hit 5 times. The average total base power (including the 10% base miss chance) is 69.8.

Scale Shot may continue attacking after breaking asubstitute.Counter will only acknowledge the last strike of this move.

If the user is holding aKing's Rock orRazor Fang, each consecutive hit has an equal chance to cause the opponent toflinch.

Pokémon with theAbilitySkill Link will always hit five times when using Scale Shot unless it misses.

If aFocus Sash activates before the last strike is dealt, the following strike will cause the defending Pokémon to faint. AFocus Band can still activate repeatedly to prevent fainting, but each chance is independent.Sturdy will activate with each hit if the defending Pokémon has a maximum HP of 1.

If the target hasWeak Armor orStamina, each strike will activate it. Scale Shot is not affected bySheer Force.
