Rydel (Japanese:カゼノKazeno) is a character inPokémon Ruby, Sapphire,Emerald,Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire who owns theMauville CityBicycle Shop.

In the games

When theplayer visitshis bike shop, he will see how dirty the player'sRunning Shoes are and will give a freeMach Bike orAcro Bike to them, and allow them to exchange one bike for the other freely. Much like the bicycle shop inGoldenrod City, Rydel uses the player to advertise his shop; as another biker points out, the bike has Rydel's name printed all over it.

InPokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, after advertising his bikes atRoutes111,119, and theBattle Resort, Rydel will reward the player with the missing second bike as a token of appreciation.

Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire

Rydel appears inSerious Bicycle Match!. Similar to the games, he is the owner of the bike shop. He doesn't like if when someone tries to destroy his bicycles. WhenRed met a Trainer who exceled at biking, Rydel decided to host a race between the Trainer, who used aGolem,Machamp, andSlaking, and Red, who usedPikachu,Clefairy, andTyrogue.

Trivia

• InGeneration III games, Rydel states that the bike is stored in the PC if this item is not found in theBag. However, the game does not actually check if the bike is in the PC at the time.
  • InPokémon Ruby and Sapphire, the bike is assumed to be in the PC because the player cannot remove it from the Bag and place it anywhere else.
  • InPokémon Emerald, this quote is still found in the game data, but is simply a leftover from the earlier games. The player is not able to store anyKey Item (including both bikes) in the PC anymore, therefore this quote is not seen in normal gameplay.
