Pokémon Horizons: The Series
As a wild Pokémon

Skeledirge debuted inThe Pendant That Starts It All (Part Two) as a Fuecoco. He was first seen welcomingLiko and herSprigatito to the Brave Olivine alongsidePawmi. During theExplorers' attack on the ship, Fuecoco joinedFriede's Charizard to helpOrla fuel the ship's combustion engine.
InThe Treasure After the Storm!, Fuecoco was surprised by Liko during one of his singing practices sessions and ran away. After the Brave Olivine made an emergency landing to fix some patches, Fuecoco accidentally slid from the aircraft and landed on theisland's shore. He stole someBerries from the local wild Pokémon and food fromRoy'sSecret Base before being found by the boy, who had heard his singing from afar. Fuecoco got embarrassed and tried to run away, only for him to almost fall from a cliff if not for Roy's quick thinking. They bonded, and Roy encouraged Fuecoco to sing. After hearing a nearby commotion, Roy and Fuecoco both ran toward it and helped Liko and Sprigatito to run away from the wild Pokémon. They, however, did not give up on their hunt and successfully captured them after Fuecoco failed to launch anEmber to scare them away. After being rescued by Friede, Liko, and Roy gathered Berries for the wild Pokémon as an apology gift, and Fuecoco had to part ways with Roy.

InFound You, Fuecoco!, Fuecoco was informed byMollie that Roy came looking for him the night before and had gifted him some Berries after not being able to find him. Wanting to see Roy again, Fuecoco hurried out of the aircraft and spotted the Explorers in the sea. After finding Roy, Fuecoco frantically told him that something was wrong. They partnered to face off againstZirc and hisRhydon, and Fuecoco was finally able to use Ember with some encouragement in the form of singing from Roy.
InThe Ancient Poké Ball, Fuecoco joined in the fight againstAmethio and battled alongside Sprigatito against hisCeruledge. Despite being two against one, Ceruledge was dominating the battle, which ultimately came to a halt when aBlack Rayquaza emerged from Roy'sAncient Poké Ball, resulting in Amethio and the other Explorers retreating. After being healed by Mollie, Friede's Charizard gave it a Poké Ball, which he presented to Roy when he returned to the Brave Olivine and allowed Roy to catch him. Afterward, they set off on the Brave Olivine, with Roy becoming a member of the Rising Volt Tacklers.
With Roy

InSpecial Training with Cap!, Fuecoco sparred against Liko's Sprigatito. However, they didn't make much progress, as both Pokémon tired themselves into a draw after consecutive uses of Ember andLeafage. Later, after being unable to talk toDot, Liko and Roy's determination to get stronger convinced Friede to hold a special training session for the rookies: this time, Fuecoco and Sprigatito faced off againstCaptain Pikachu and needed to land only a single hit on theMouse Pokémon to win the match. While they initially struggled against hisDouble Team, Fuecoco and Sprigatito destroyed each one of Pikachu's copies after Liko figured out his behavior, with Sprigatito managing to almost score aScratch. After a lunch break, Fuecoco battled against Sprigatito once more to see how much the special training paid off. In the end, despite being at atype advantage, Fuecoco was knocked out by Sprigatito's newly-learnedQuick Attack, resulting in Roy's defeat. This battle was the first step for the new Rising Volt Tacklers to get closer to Dot, who let them know that the Black Rayquaza was in Paldea.
InNemona and Brassius and…, Roy used Fuecoco in his battle againstBrassius at theArtazon Gym. Fuecoco battled against hisSudowoodo, only to struggle before realizing it wasn't aGrass type and that it was aRock type. While he was at a type disadvantage, he learnedStomping Tantrum during the battle, which dealtsupereffective damage to Sudowoodo. Despite managing to deal some good damage and SudowoodoTerastallizing into a Grass Tera Type, which gave Fuecoco the type advantage at that point, Fuecoco couldn’t stand up to the Imitation Pokémon's Terastallized power and was defeated, with Roy suffering his second official loss in a row.

InQuaxly, We Can Do It, Fuecoco was used in a battle againstSpinel's Pokémon alongsideWattrel as they teamed up with Liko's Sprigatito andDot's Quaxly. During the battle, Wattrel started a fight with Fuecoco, which unintentionally allowed Fuecoco to defeat Spinel's Magneton with Ember; afterward, the two continued with their fight so Roy intervened to break up the fight and left the battle. As their bickering continued in thenext episode, Roy was inspired by Friede to have them battle together to deepen their friendship and relieve some stress. Their opponent was Captain Pikachu, against whom they lost due to their lack of teamwork. Immediately after, the Brave Olivine flew through turbulence, which charged Wattrel with electricity, allowing it to boost itsSpark and protect Roy from getting hit by a rogue tree branch. Seeing this as an opportunity to overpower Captain Pikachu, Roy, Wattrel, and Fuecoco trained the entire night in preparation for a combo move. The next day, they had their rematch against Captain Pikachu, with Fuecoco launching him and his teammate up by firing Embers downward to give Wattrel enough height to catch sufficiently strong winds and activate its Ability. Despite their improved teamwork, Captain Pikachu won once again, though their relationship was shown to have grown more amicable.
InKabu's Battle Training!, Fuecoco participated in a Gym challenge set up byMotostokeGym LeaderKabu. Fuecoco's role was to keep theLitwick flames lit while Sprigatito attempted to extinguish them. Though Fuecoco struggled to keep up with Sprigatito, it ended up winning due to Liko deciding Roy deserved it more. He then went on to battle alongside Sprigatito against Kabu'sCentiskorch andWakaba'sRolycoly. The two struggled to damage Centiskorch and, despite learningFlamethrower, Fuecoco was knocked out.
InCharge! Galar Mine!, Fuecoco battled against the Explorers alongside Sprigatito until they encountered aGalarianMoltres that had an Ancient Poké Ball. After Moltres overwhelmed everyone and left Captain Pikachu injured, Fuecoco quickly escaped theGalar Mine with Roy, Liko, and the Mouse Pokémon. In thenext episode, Fuecoco was brought to the MotostokePokémon Center to recover from its battle with Moltres. After recovering, Fuecoco helped to battle Moltres again to calm it down. Thanks toLucius's Arboliva, the group succeeded and theLegendary Pokémon returned to its Ancient Poké Ball.
InThe Stolen Treasure, Fuecoco and Wattrel teamed up with Sprigatito to battleTepen to get the Ancient Poké Ball back from him, after he stole it from Roy. However, the three of them were put to sleep by Tepen's specialSleep Powder that hisFoongus had.
InFuecoco…Becomes a Crook?!, Fuecoco accompanied Roy in helping the Rising Volt Tacklers on a job assignment that involved a group ofSandile and itsevolvedforms, who were disturbing somearcheologists. Upon finding the group, Fuecoco and Roy quickly befriended them after finding out they were only protecting theirEggs. When the archeologists' digging equipment disturbed the Krookodile and its family, they went on a rampage and tried to destroy the machinery. However, by learningDisarming Voice, Fuecoco managed to calm Krookodile and the others down.
InA Challenge from the Explorers, Fuecoco was used to battleCoral'sGlalie. Fuecoco struggled to land any attacks after Glalie froze the battlefield withBlizzard, preventing Fuecoco from standing up properly. Noticing Fuecoco's frustration, Roy had him use Stomping Tantrum, creating an ice fence that sent Glalie flying. Impressed by Roy and Fuecoco's determination, Coral decided to stop holding back, only to be forcibly pulled away bySidian for a mission involving the Black Rayquaza.
InThe Plan to Capture Rayquaza, Roy had Fuecoco stunChalce with Stomping Tantrum, keeping her from attempting to capture the Black Rayquaza. Inthe following episode, Fuecoco and Friede's Charizard combined their strength to take on the Black Rayquaza. Later, after witnessing Charizard be defeated, Fuecoco refused to back down and learnedFlame Charge in the process. He teamed up with Liko's newly evolvedFloragato to launch an attack strong enough to send the Black Rayquaza flying backward, though he failed to do any real damage. Afterward, the Black Rayquaza took off into the skies.

InSparkle! The Glow of Flame and Art, Fuecoco headed toArtazon with his Trainer for theirTera Training test. The battle was postponed due to the town having its annualArtazon Art Festival. He had a battle withNemona'sPawmot instead, managing to score some hits before being defeated. Afterwards, he helped Roy create a flaming clay Charizard sculpture using his Flamethrower, impressing Brassius. During Roy's rematch battle against Brassius, he managed to terastallize for the first time and soon won the battle by using an unexpected Flame Charge, so he and his Trainer passed the test.
InShowdown! The Paldea Elite Four, Fuecoco was used to battleHassel'sBaxcalibur andFlapple alongside Brassius'sDolliv in a Tag Battle, struggling against thepseudo-legendary Pokémon due to itsThermal ExchangeAbility. He still held his own while dealing some damage with Disarming Voice, but ended up losing despite Terastallizing.

InResonating Spirits in a Challenge to Ryme!, Fuecoco went up againstGym TrainerMC Sledge'sSableye and easily won with Flame Charge. Later, during Roy's Tera Training test againstRyme, Fuecoco was chosen as his second and last Pokémon after Kilowattrel was defeated. He managed to defeat the opposingHoundstone, but ended up losing to Ryme'sToxtricity even after Terastallizing and a round of singing, causing Roy to lose the match and fail the test. In thefollowing episode, after Nemona made them go through an intenseHyper Training session, Fuecoco and Roy challenged Ryme to a rematch, which she agreed on the condition of it being a 1-on-1. Fuecoco faced Toxtricity again and employed a similar sing-and-attack strategy, but managed to actually deal substantial damage and avoid taking it back, forcing the opposing Pokémon to Terastallize. He did it as well and, after a final clash ofHex and Flamethrower, finally defeated Toxtricity, allowing Roy to pass his test.
InShine on, Terastallization! Liko vs. Roy!, Fuecoco was used as Roy's first Pokémon in theTera Training Student Battle Tournament against Floragato. Both Pokémon were evenly matched at first, with Fuecoco using Flame Charge to increase his speed and Floragato using her vine to grab him. Roy then recalled him for Kilowattrel. After Kilowattrel's defeat, it was back to Fuecoco versus Floragato. With encouraging singing from Roy, Ryme, and the audience, Fuecoco sang as well and evolved intoCrocalor. Both Crocalor and Floragato were soon Terastallized, with Crocalor overpowering and defeating Floragato, winning Roy the battle. After their victory, Ryme and Nemona praised Crocalor and Roy for their victory.
InInto a New Sky! The Brave Olivine!, Crocalor and Roy were challenged by Lucius's Moltres to prove their strength against it. Despite being nervous at first, Crocalor withstood Moltres'sFiery Wrath and countered its ill effects with Stomping Tantrum. After exchanging a couple of equally powerful moves, Moltres usedHurricane to lift Crocalor off his feet and immobilize it, but he managed to escape and unleashed a supereffective Disarming Voice beforeTerastallizing. Moltres withstood the enhanced Flame Charge, but seemed content with Roy and Crocalor's strength and returned to its Poké Ball soon after.
InRoy is Crocalor, and Crocalor is Roy!, Crocalor was with his Trainer at theCountryside Harvest Festival. Crocalor and Roy wandered off to a stall where they both accidentally swapped bodies after trying out a malfunctioningSynchro Machine. After a series of events at the festival with Liko and Dot, Roy and Crocalor eventually swapped back to their own bodies once the machine had been fixed, only for it to break soon after.

InEncounters at the Crystal Pool, Crocalor accompanied Roy and his friends to theCrystal Pool, up onOni Mountain. He was then used to battle a wild TerastallizedMilotic that confornted the group, after some struggling against Milotic's agility in the water, Dot started planning with Quaxwell and Floragato to lure Milotic out of the pool, with Roy having Crocalor attack it once it surfaces. After Milotic emerged again, Crocalor and Milotic both used Disarming Voice against each other in a singing display, with Crocalor managing to calm Milotic down so it could let the group stay in peace.
InKleavor the Solitary Warrior, Crocalor, Floragato, and Quaxwell battledLucius's Kleavor in order to convince the Pokémon to join their group. Kleavor had the advantage of strength and battle experience, but their strategies eventually paid off in dealing big damage to it, causing it to useStone Axe to take them more seriously. In the end, despite Terastallizing and doing major damage to Kleavor, the three of them were defeated, but Kleavor was impressed enough by their strength to join their group.
InEntei's Fierce Battle Cry!, Crocalor faced what was presumed to beLucius'sEntei along with Captain Pikachu, Floragato, and Quaxwell. Although they failed to defeat him, Entei recognized their strength, but revealed himself to be a wild Pokémon and not the one the Rising Volt Tacklers were looking for.
InOver the Top!, Crocalor, Floragato, and Quaxwell facedGeeta'sGlimmora and twoGlimmet. After a great team effort, Crocalor and Quaxwell were defeated, with the only Floragato and Glimmora remaining on the field, but Liko's Pokémon eventually managed to win thanks to herOvergrow ability. In this way, the Rising Volt Tacklers were granted entry intoArea Zero to search for Entei.

InThe Pillar of Fire, Crocalor was used alongside Floragato, Quaxwell, and Captain Pikachu to battle againstLucius's Gouging Fire and retrieve Lucius's belt. Immediately after, in thefollowing episode, they went up against the Black Rayquaza once again. One by one, all of the Rising Volt Tacklers' Pokémon were knocked out, except for Crocalor andPagogo, which changed into itsTerastal Form and entered the battle. After exchanging direct hits withDragon Ascent andTera Starstorm, Rayquaza and Pagogo were left barely standing, so theTera Pokémon shared the remainder of itsTerastal energy with Crocalor, allowing him to Terastallize and deal the finishing blow on theSky High Pokémon.
InThe Rising Volt Tacklers vs. The Explorers!, Crocalor battled against Coral'sScream Tail, Screamypuff, despite struggling against the Paradox Pokemon at first, Crocolar was still able to persevere and win thanks to his better battle experience. Inthe next episode, Crocalor Terastallized and teamed up with Floragato, Quaxwell, and Ceruledge in order to face off againstGibeon'sZygarde. Despite the group's efforts, however, they were still no match for the Order Pokémon. After the battle, Zygarde got up and revealed it was testing Liko's and her friend's strength and resolve all along.
After the events at Laqua, Crocalor accompanied his Trainer on a journey for one year. InEyes to the Skies Once Again, Part 1, he battled a Laquium-enhanced Slaking alongside Roy andUlt's Pokémon, after which he and Roy headed off to meet up with Liko. InEyes to the Skies Once Again, Part 2, he had a battle with Liko's Meowscarada, which he won after a tough fight.
InTerastallization vs. Mega Evolution!, Crocalor was used alongside Lucario in aDouble Battle against Nemona's Pawmot andRibombee. During the battle, Crocalor supported and defended Lucario from Ribombee's support moves and attacks, while dealing some damage to Pawmot. After LucarioMega Evolved and defeated Pawmot, Roy was declared the winner.
InThe Six Heroes Unleashed!, Crocalor was used alongside the rest of Roy, Liko, and Ult's Pokémon to battle against five of the Six Heroes, who were under the influence of the SuperStrong Spheres. Together, they stalled for time to allow Pagogo to purify the Laquium away from the heroes' bodies, but the Explorers used the Super Strong Spheres once more on them. In thenext episode, despite his efforts, Crocalor gets knocked out by Lapras.

InHZ116, Crocalor was partnered with Kilowattrel in order to battle againstDrayton's Pokémon,Archaludon andKingdra. Initially, its synergy with its teammate allowed them to dodge incoming attacks, with Drayton even recognizing they played off one another very well. After settingrain, however, Drayton's Kingdra quickly defeated Crocalor withWave Crash. InHZ119, they had a rematch and, equipped with better strategies, managed to defeat Kingdra with a combined attack. Soon after, however, Kilowattrel fainted while protecting Crocalor from Archaludon, but they ended up winning after he evolved intoSkeledirge, Terastallized, and powered through the opponent's attack.
InHZ122, Skeledirge battled against Friede's Charizard for the first time. During the battle, Skeledirge struggled to dodge Charizard's attacks due to his larger size while his opponent had the aerial advantage. However, through Roy's encouragement, Skeledirge learnedTorch Song, which evened the playing field. After both Pokémon Terastallized, Skeledirge defeated Charizard, the Pokémon he admired since he was a Fuecoco. Skeledirge was then congratulated by Roy on his victory.
InHZ125, Skeledirge was used alongside Kilowattrel to battle Lucius's Galarian Moltres. Struggling with the Legendary Pokemon at first, Skeledirge and Kilowattrel soon found an opening to attack after Moltres was exhausted from the effects of Laquium. Through Skeledirge's help, Kilowattrel eventually defeated Moltres.
Personality and characteristics

Skeledirge, even as aFuecoco andCrocalor, is shown to enjoy singing and eating, as expected of hisspecies. At first, Fuecoco would get embarrassed and run away when there was someone nearby hearing him sing. However, after meetingRoy and through his encouragement, Fuecoco started to gain confidence in his singing and started to not mind when others joined in. He is also shown to be clumsy, such as when he accidentally slid off theBrave Olivine. In addition, Fuecoco is usually a friendly and upbeat Pokémon who doesn't get upset too often, as he quickly became friends withLiko's Sprigatito andDot's Quaxly, even maintaning his friendship with them after they both evolved. Despite this, Fuecoco has shown to have a short temper, such as when he got frustrated withWattrel for interrupting it in mid-battle againstSpinel'sMagneton.
As first seen inThe Pendant That Starts It All (Part Two), Skeledirge when he was a Fuecoco greatly admiredFriede's Charizard and looks up to it, wanting to help and be around it all the time, even becoming upset when the Flame Pokémon is not around.Mollie theorized that the reason why Fuecoco was on the Brave Olivine to begin with was to be with Charizard. Fuecoco also wants to become strong like Charizard and enjoys watching it no matter what it is doing. In addition, Fuecoco is very good friends with Charizard. When he reunites with Charizard inInto a New Sky! The Brave Olivine!, Crocalor happily gives it a hug, as the Flame Pokémon is proud of him for evolving and becoming stronger. He gives Charizard a hug again inHZ122 after not seeing it for a year. Also, in the same episode, Skeledirge surpassed Charizard by battling it and defeating it.
Roy and Skeledirge, while he was a Fuecoco, quickly formed a strong bond after first meeting each other,as they thought about each other even when they were apart andwent out of their way to find one another again. Their bond has led them to become partners inThe Ancient Poké Ball when Fuecoco stored aPoké Ball inside his mouth so Roy could catch him. Skeledirge, like his Trainer, is excited to battle. He would often give his all but doesn't feel bad about losing, especially when Roy assures him that he tried his best. They are also almost identical in personality and thus are the perfect match for one another. His closeness to Roy was shown when he would sit on top of his shoulder or head. Ever since they swapped bodies inRoy is Crocalor, and Crocalor is Roy!, Skeledirge and Roy have a better understanding of each other.

Although he has shown to be gluttonous, Skeledirge enjoys certain types of food, such asBerries and spicy flavored food. He also enjoys eating sweets, as shown inThe Bittersweet Truth, when he and Roy got excited about eating the sweets thatMurdock andMitchell made after they did an unexpected bake-off. In addition, he doesn't like sharing his food with others and would get defensive if he felt his food was being threatened. However, despite this, he does know when to share with others, as seen inAn Unexpected Picnic!, when he offered to share hissandwich with awild Wattrel.
Despite being aFire-type, Skeledirge doesn't seem to get bothered by water as seen when he was still unevolved. However, ever since the events inTransform! Hero of the Seas, Palafin, Skeledirge became fearful of water, as he would freak out if he were to get splashed, but doesn't mind relaxing in a tube on water. Fuecoco also had a habit of being insensitive to the feelings of others, but it is unintentional, as seen inSpecial Training Time! when he didn't realize that he was blocking Wattrel's sunlight and getting in its personal space, as he wanted to be close with his teammate, which has led them to argue. However, after growing closer as a team, Fuecoco got along much better with Wattrel. Still, despite his improved relationship with his teammate, Fuecoco gets into arguments with Wattrel, as shown inFiery Galarian Moltres, when they fought for aGrepa Berry. However, after Wattrelevolved intoKilowattrel, Fuecoco is on much better terms with his teammate and enjoys flying with it. His friendship with Kilowattrel continues to grow after evolving as well, even becoming stronger as time passed and evolving into his final evolution. Skeledirge gets along well withLucario, even working well together in battle, despite their different battle styles.
After evolving, Crocalor still retains his cheerful personality, enjoyment of singing and eating, but is more powerful and confident than ever. His singing has also improved. In addition, he can still be very clumsy, as he occasionally drops his egg-shaped fireball from his head. Crocalor enjoys finding ways to become stronger and gets fired up on the idea, as seen inBetter, Farther, Stronger!. After fully evolving, Skeledirge has become far more powerful as a battler, with a slightly more serious personality, but is still overall jovial and clumsy. Just like his species, Skeledirge's fire bird has its own soul, with its own curious and joyful personality, making the fire bird a companion of sorts despite it being a part of Skeledirge's power. Skeledirge also enjoys giving his friends a ride on his back.
Skeledirge seems to have developed leadership skills, as it stepped up in helpingCaptain Pikachu lead the Pokémon own by his Trainer's friends and the ones who live on the Brave Olivine during Charizard's absences. Also, much like Charizard was for him, Skeledirge became a role model forLiko's Charcadet and would do sparring battles with the Fire Child Pokémon, as seen inTaking the Next Steps. This was shown again inHZ126 with Skeledirge being pleased to see it evolved intoArmarouge and becoming stronger.
