After collectingGymBadges and single-handedly disbandingTeam Rocket,[9] Red challenged theIndigo League. After defeating theElite Four, Red battled the newestChampion ofKanto, Blue, and claimed the title of Champion.[10][11] Red traveled through theSevii Islands, where he met a man who gave him aNugget.[12] At some point, Red caught aLapras, a Venusaur and also saw aSuicune in Kanto.[13]

Trivia

  • Red is based on theplayer character of theKanto-based games, as he was theChampion of Kanto, and he was the one who defeatedTeam Rocket back in Kanto. Hisrival is Blue, as Blue has thefirst partner Pokémon with a type advantage over Red's first partner Pokémon.
  • Red is indirectly responsible for the creation of thePokémon Masters League, as him defeatingLear before the events of the game was what inspired Lear to createPasio and the PML in order to get another chance at beating him.
  • Red is depicted mostly as silent in Pokémon Masters EX; acrossall his lines of dialogue, he speaks a total of seven lines out loud and two lines of inner monologue.
  • The English names of Sygna Suit Red & Charizard and Red & Snorlax'sTrainer moves are possiblereferences to the lyrics of thePokémon Theme.
  • Sygna Suit Red & Charizard were the first fair-exclusiveFire-type sync pair.
  • Excluding Monthly Poké Fair Scouts, Sygna Suit Red & Charizard have been featured in moresync pair scouts than any other limited sync pair.
  • Red & Snorlax were the first fair-exclusiveNormal-type sync pair.
    • Red andN are the only Trainers to form the first fair-exclusive sync pair for more than one type.
  • Red was the first Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX to use bothMega Evolution andDynamax.
  • Red is the only Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX whose sygna suit variant was made available before their regular attire.
    • Possibly for the same reason, Red is also the only Trainer whose battle music is unlocked in the Jukebox by raising their sygna suit variant to 6★ EX rather than their regular attire.
  • In Red'ssync pair story, Leaf says that Red's Snorlax is the same one he caught in Kanto.[18]
  • All versions of Red use special voice-over lines upon winning a battle in a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers includeBlue,Leaf,Professor Oak,Elaine,Chase,Ethan, andLeon.
  • InKris's sygna suit's sync pair story, Leaf mentions that Red once saw aSuicune in Kanto, referencing theroaming Suicune that appears inPokémon FireRed and LeafGreen if the player's first partner Pokémon wasCharmander.
  • Sygna Suit Red (Thunderbolt) & Pikachu were the first Master Fair-exclusive sync pair capable of usingmax moves.
  • In his thunderbolt sygna suit's sync pair story, it is revealed that Red caught his Pikachu inViridian Forest.
  • Red and Blue are the first characters to be both a Champion and a Neo Champion.
  • In his Champion outfit's sync pair story, it's revealed that Red saw Articuno in binocularsnearFuchsia City before catching it atSeafoam Islands, similar to the core series games.
  • Red & Venusaur are the first sync pair exclusive to mix sync pair scouts. Consequentially, they are the first sync pair that can only be scouted using paidgems.
  • Red uses a Lapras on his team inPokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, which may be based on the Lapras that was given away by aSilph Co. employee in the Kanto-based games. In addition, Red'sPokémon Origins andPokémon Zensho counterparts have been depicted with a Lapras.
  • Red was the first Trainer to form sync pairs with all five roles prior to the introduction of the Multi role (countingEX roles), receiving the fifth—a Sprint EX role—on June 19, 2024.
    • Not counting EX roles, Red has formed a sync pair of every role except Sprint and Multi.
  • Red (Anniversary 2025) & Charizard were the first sync pair exclusive to EX Master Fair scouts.
  • Along withIrida andGloria, Red is the first Trainer introduced beforeGeneration IX seen using the Terastal phenomenon in any Pokémon media.
