Professor Magnolia (Japanese:マグノリア博士Dr. Magnolia) is aPokémon Professor from theGalar region. She specializes inDynamax.

In the core series games

Professor Magnolia is a researcher who has been studying theDynamax phenomenon for many years. It is said that the people of Galar were greatly excited when she presented her findings on the Dynamax phenomenon some years ago, which led to the use of the phenomenon in current Galar culture. She once helpedLeon andSonia start theirjourneys asTrainers and Gym Challengers when they were younger.

Magnolia first meets theplayer andHop at Route 2. She obtains theirWishing Stars to convert them intoDynamax Bands, and encourages Leon to endorse both of them to partake in theGym Challenge. From there, she periodically appears in the story, her most notable appearance being inHammerlocke upon request by ChairmanRose so that Rose may know more aboutGalar particles. Later on, she steps down from her position as Professor and hands over her Dynamax research to her granddaughter, Sonia. Sonia also continues to expand upon said research by studying the legends ofZacian,Zamazenta, and theDarkest Day.

Eventually, after the player becomes Champion, Magnolia appears before the player at their house and gives them theMaster Ball. She encourages the player to use the power of Dynamax correctly and for the good of others, likely out of a partial feeling of guilt over Rose misusing the power of Dynamax energy and nearly causing the destruction of Galar.

InPokémon GO,Professor Willow mentions that Magnolia is one of his colleagues.

Pokémon Adventures

Professor Magnolia debuted inWow!! That's One Big Pokémon. She researches theDynamax phenomenon with her assistants,Henry,Casey, andMarvin. The group travels and sleeps in Professor Magnolia's mobile home, the (Japanese:マグノリア号Magnolia).

She was first seen meeting a boy named Marvin who was rescued from falling off a cliff by Henry. After proper introductions were made, Henry, Casey, and Marvin participated in a Dynamax simulation where they fought and defeated a DynamaxPangoro hologram. The battle gave Marvin the confidence to set on a Pokémon journey of his own. With approval from his parents, Marvin joined Magnolia and her assistants on their quest to study Dynamax.

InChomp!! Defeat Drednaw, Magnolia's trailer house was attacked by a trio of wildDrednaw. In order to battle the Bite Pokémon, Henry and Casey each received aRotom Phone with aPokédex function installed from Magnolia, officially making them bothPokédex holders. After the Drednaw were defeated, Magnolia noted that Marvin andSobble bonded during the ordeal and suggested the boy keep it, which he happily accepted.

InWatch Out!! Strong Rivals, the group encounteredSonia, Professor Magnolia's granddaughter and a researcher. When Sonia lamented being unable to make much progress in her research, Henry had hisLancelot sabotaged the trailer house, preventing it from moving. Magnolia asked Sonia to go with the others and research the geoglyph inTurffield in her place while she had the car repaired.

InGlittering!! The Tapestry in the Vault, the group encounteredOpal inHammerlocke. After taking Henry and the others toStow-on-Side for their next Gym battle, Magnolia gave Opal a ride home back toBallonlea. InChomp!! It's Dracovish, Magnolia gave Henry a news report about Pokémon Dynamaxing atRoute 9 Tunnel, a normally impossible occurrence. Worried that Casey could be blamed due to her Dynamax simulator, the group traveled to the area to investigate.

InGrrr!! Noble Kidnappers, Magnolia received a call from Sonia, who had uncovered information onSordward andShielbert, the thieves that stole Casey's Pokémon a year ago. They agreed to rendezvous aroundSpikemuth, but while Magnolia and the others waited for Sonia to arrive, the trailer house was attacked by Sordward'sGolisopod and Shielbert'sBronzong. The brothers mistakenly believed Sonia managed to deliver a camera containing the data she found, only forPiers to arrive with it in his possession. Piers gave the camera up but secretly removed its memory card, tricking the brothers into leaving empty handed.

InRumble!! The Horrific Darkest Day, after being informed byLeon and Sonia thatRose, Sordward, and Shielbert were working together, Henry's group and the Gym Leaders gathered atRose Tower to find out if Rose intended on bringing harm to Galar. Rose was actually in Hammerlocke, where he revealed his plan to restart theDarkest Day and ensure the safety of Galar's future. Power Spot lights began appearing all over the region, causing Pokémon to start Dynamaxing at random. She picked up Henry's group and the Gym Leaders in her trailer house in the streets of Wyndon.

InCracked!! The Rusted Sword and Shield, she gave the group a ride fromWyndon toHammerlocke through Route 10. After driving Henry's group and some Gym Leaders to Hammerlocke, Magnolia and the remaining Gym Leaders went to help the towns being ravaged by the rampaging Dynamax Pokémon.

InGRRR!! The Irrepairable Gears, after the multiple Dynamaxing situation was brought under control, Magnolia was preparing to drive the remaining Gym Leaders back to Hammerlocke to provide backup before an unknown thing crashed in front of the vehicle.

InOh My!! The Disappearance of Henry, at thetower summit, Henry, Zacian, Zamazenta and Eternatus all disappeared after a flash of light and everyone at the tower summit was injured by the shockwave that followed. She visited the hospital in Hammerlocke withOpal and was relieved to find everyone was safe. She decided to followMarvin to Hammerlocke Stadium's lobby and was shocked to hear that Henry has disappeared.

InFlutter!! Tickets to a New Land, She along withSonia andOleana was seen atWedgehurst Station sending off the search group bound for theIsle of Armor and theCrown Tundra.

InFwoom!! Goodbye, Galar, after discovering theGalar particles are running out even before the Darkest Day, she noted that Rose had also stepped down from the Macro Cosmos committee beforehand in order to bear the responsibility alone for starting the Darkest Day in order to secure and produce more Galar particles and also came to understood all the things that Rose had done and his true intention was to protect the present day of the Galar region.
