Professor Juniper inPokémon the Series: Black & White

In theanimated series, Professor Juniper debuted inIn The Shadow of Zekrom! as an old friend ofProfessor Oak. She gaveAsh,Delia, and Oak a ride in her SUV to her lab so she could studyAsh's Pikachu who was ill. Later, she showed Ash the Unovafirst partner Pokémon, then gaveTrip his firstPokémon,Snivy.

Ash later returned to Professor Juniper's lab after finding out that Pikachu had lost his electricity fromZekrom. Later the storm arrived again but this time it gave Pikachu's electric powers back, and Ash departed from her lab the next day.

InA Sandile Gusher of Change!, Juniper sent Ash the Poké Ball belonging to theOshawott that was supposed to go to a new Trainer, but wandered away to go with Ash. InMinccino-Neat and Tidy! it was shown that she had sentBianca to give Ash his Badge case. She then spoke to Ash via Bianca'sXtransceiver.

Ash sent hisPidove to her inSewaddle and Burgh in Pinwheel Forest!, in order to make room for his newly capturedSewaddle. He switched them inThe Lost World of Gothitelle!.

InA Venipede Stampede!, Professor Juniper and her lab assistants monitoredVenipede swarm event inCastelia City, and they quickly identified that the problem was linked with strong energy waves coming from theDesert Resort. She flew over to Castelia and met up with Ash andhis friends to investigate the unusual activity caused byTeam Rocket. She was also set to appear in the unaired and non-canonicalfinalepisodes of Team Rocket'sMeteonite mission; in May 2023, the scripts for these episodes surfaced,[1] revealing that Juniper was to be involved in investigating the history of theRelic Castle and would recover a small Meteonite stolen by Team Rocket from theNacrene City museum so it could be returned toLenora.

InArcheops In The Modern World!,Fennel helped Juniper revive anArchen from aPlume Fossil. Archen later evolved intoArcheops and left with a passing flock of Archeops. While the encounter was brief, Juniper was able to document thecry and behavioral data on the Archen evolutionary line.

InCrisis at Chargestone Cave!, the group encountered Professor Juniper while she and her team were conducting research on the electric stones ofChargestone Cave. Juniper also met up with Bianca for their plannedtrade inEvolution Exchange Excitement!. Juniper traded herKarrablast for Bianca'sShelmet, making both of them evolve atChargestone Cave. In order to help Bianca work with her newEscavalier, Professor Juniper suggested they have aTag Battle against Ash and Cilan, who usedBoldore andCrustle, respectively. Although Professor Juniper'sAccelgor and Bianca's Escavalier learned to work together and eventually defeat Boldore, they were both defeated by Crustle'sRock Wrecker. Juniper was surprised to encounter her fatherCedric, who revealed that he had located theHero's Ruin. Ash's group left with Cedric inExplorers of the Hero's Ruin!, while Professor Juniper remained behind to continue her Chargestone Cave research.

InNew Places... Familiar Faces!, Juniper met up with Ash and his friends again when they returned to Nuvema Town after theVertress Conference. She also presented a beginner Trainer,Nanette, the three first partner Pokémon. After some thinking, Nanette choseTepig as her first Pokémon. Juniper also received a call from her father, who revealed that theWhite Ruins had been discovered. While Juniper was unable to join her father, she suggested Ash's group visit the newAspertia Gym en route to the White Ruins.

InFarewell, Unova! Setting Sail for New Adventures!, Juniper told Ash andhis friends about a cruise that would travel through theDecolore Islands toKanto, after they expressed their wishes to travel to Kanto together. She bought tickets for them to board the ship, but a disguisedJames bumped into her on purpose to switch the tickets around with fakes to lure Ash and his friends into another scheme ofTeam Rocket's. She wished the group all the best before returning to her lab. She also made plans to transfer Ash's Unova Pokémon from her lab toProfessor Oak's laboratory.

Juniper made a cameo appearance in the ending credits ofGenesect and the Legend Awakened.

Character

Professor Juniper is pleasant and mature. She willingly offers her assistance, even providingAsh's group with ship tickets on two occasions, inNew Places... Familiar Faces! andFarewell, Unova! Setting Sail for New Adventures!, respectively. She has a particular interest in the origins of Pokémon. Juniper is often busy with multiple projects at any given time, all of which require extensive fieldwork and data analysis back at the lab.

Professor Juniper's Archeops

Working withFennel in order to utilizeMusharna'sDream Mist and using aPlume Fossil provided to her byLenora, Professor Juniper was able to revive anArchen in a lab betweenCastelia City andNimbasa Town. Archen quickly proved to be a handful and refused to eat modernPokémon food. She soon formed a bond withAsh and hisTranquill as they attempted to teach Archen to fly.

Some ancient seeds were attached to Archen when she was revived and were unknowingly planted in the lab. Cry after cry, the seeds grew and grew until the vines had made the lab completely inaccessible. The vines then began blossoming with fruit, and Archen quickly ran up and helped herself to her first meal since being revived. She then evolved intoArcheops and in turn, gained the ability to fly. However,Team Rocket attempted to capture Archeops and, in the process, destroyed the habitat she had created. Luckily, a flock of Archeops had heard her call and arrived to take her with them. After saying a farewell to her new friends, Archeops flew off to live with her own kind.

Archeops's only known moves areDragon Breath andPeck.

History

Black & White arc

Professor Juniper debuted inFussing and Fighting, where she prepared threefirst partner Pokémon to be given to three new Trainers. While on a call withFennel, the first partner Pokémon got into a fight into each other. Thenext day, Juniper had three first partner Pokémon mailed alongside a set of three Pokédexes to the house ofBlack, one of the new Trainers. Of the three,Tepig ended up in Black's hands, whileCheren andBianca receivedSnivy andOshawott, respectively. Due to Black's impatient nature, he accidentally dropped Cheren and Bianca's Pokédexes in a puddle of rainwater, damaging and rendering them unusable. While the Pokédexes undergo repairs, Juniper sent Cheren and Bianca off to find Black and inform him to keep his Pokédex safe.

After Cheren and Bianca successfully met up with Black, they gave Professor Juniper hisXtransceiver number so that she may be in contact with him. InAt Liberty on Liberty Garden, she contacted Black to have him andWhite travel toLiberty Garden in order to get data on theMythical PokémonVictini. After Black succeeded in this mission, Professor Juniper's father,Cedric Juniper, arrived to assist in repairing the Pokédexes.

ByA Lost Melody, Professor Juniper and her father successfully repaired the Pokédexes. She had Cedric sent toCastelia City in order to deliver Bianca her fixed Pokédex. To Juniper's shock, Bianca revealed that she decided to become her assistant and instead handed the Pokédex over to White.

InA Wretched Reunion, Juniper traveled toRoute 6 alongside Fennel. There, they witnessed Black, White, and Cedric in battle withN, the king ofTeam Plasma. During the battle, Cedric revealed that a year ago, N barged into his lab and liberated a second set of first partner Pokémon meant to be given out to another set of Trainers. N chastised Professor Juniper for her treatment of the first partner Pokémon given to Black and his friends and claimed that she only thinks of them as objects meant to be researched. When Black tried to stop N, hisMusha chose to run away instead of eating his dreams as usual. The shock of losing one of his most trusted Pokémon caused Black to faint from shock.

InDream a Little Dream, Professor Juniper, Fennel, Amanita, and White looked after Black at thePokémon League gates while they watch the tournament.

Black 2 & White 2 arc

InPink Slip, Professor Juniper hides in Fennel's home alongside Fennel, Amanita,Bianca, and Cedric Juniper to escape thePlasma Frigate freezing Unova's cities. There, Fennel reveals that after researching the Dream Mist for two years, she managed to discover another dimension known as thePokémon Dream World. She hypothesizes that this may have been where Black went to after being sealed into theLight Stone. To confirm this, Fennel has White sent to theEntralink, where the real world and Dream World are most connected. The operation proves to be a success as White manages to find and obtain the Light Stone.
